Second time here. Friendly, helpful staff. Stayed in the 4 bed female dorm. I was impressed with how comfortable the beds were. Each one has a light, socket and box for personal belongings - which I thought was a nice touch. Clean, comfortable, quiet and excellent for the price. I was attending Pouzza Fest - they have an official hotel...

Near Berri UQAM and the gay village, walking distance to shopping, bars, resto and micro brews. Social atmosphere with on-site bar and good activities. Recommend the Wednesday walking tour up Mont Royal for free. Comfy beds, clean washrooms and lockers in room. Some mixed dorms in basement did not have windows. Small kitchen, breakfast 7-9. Good for international and solo...

• Location was the best, near the metro (3 stations to the old town) and bus terminal • Room and bathroom were big • The shower was strong • Free towel • Nice staff • My bed was dirty with some dust and some hair • Wall wasn't sound proof. I could hear noises on the hallway

Had a great time in Montreal at Samesun, with special thanks to Curtis who was nice enough to write down (twice, after I lost the first one) a list of bar, brunch & poutine recommendations. Every place we went to was great - thanks Curtis!

I arrived super late and reception was open, my 8bed dormroom is clean and big, fireplace (not a real one but still impressive) fridge private bathroom and lockers in the room. Breakfast just delicious and staff very friendly. Location super.

I had a very good time in this hostel. The personnel were all good and kind. The breakfast is good. The bedrooms are very good, also the washroom. What I didn't like the most is that I shared a night with 2 older men, it made me feel kinda weird, I had the feeling hostels were for young people. I...

Samson Hostel was a convent and handily accessible place to stay when in Montreal. It doesn't seem centrally located but it's around the corner from a Metro station that all trains run through. The neighborhood is in the middle of a few growing hot spots, and you wouldn't know that you're only a few blocks away from a strip of...

I came for a short business + friend visit trip. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean, everything you need was there, the room has a good size, with real pieces of furniture, at a great location, a decent breakfast is included, all of that for a very affordable. What else could we ask for ?

The staff is nice, the breakfeast is included from 7 to 9am, is basic but good and you can take whatever you want. It really has a great location and you have great places to know and eat in a walking distance. The bathrooms are clean, the only thing as a solo female traveler is that i could not find...

Hi there, thanks for your great review. We're sorry about the situation with the female dormitories while you were staying here - we've been very busy in them for a while now. Booking early will always increase the chances of being able to stay in one. In the meantime, we'll try to be more flexible with converting our mixed rooms...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
