They cancelled my room because my credit card wasn't authorised, without telling me. So when I arrived, I was charged double because they "had no more room left". The room had no own bathroom and was very basic. The owner seems a bit unfriendly. It is close to public transport and you can stay there if you absolutely have to.... More

This hotel sucks the floor carp was dirty . Laundry sheets in the hallway. No elevator. Attendant was rude. Beggars and smokers hung around the building. Thirteen police cars drove by in ten minures. Place smelled like smoke. It's nothing like the picture. They charged me for one night even though I told them I couldn't stay as the place... More

First time I am writing a review because of how crappy my experience was at a place. This hotel is filled with condom wrappers and awful smell. You will be first met with intimidating locks on the door, the narrowest corridors, followed by an incredibly rude hotel receptionist who tries to act like he owns you and feels the need... More

It was cheap but not worth the economy, it was hot, loud, ugly and there was one washroom for the entire floor. And you also have to wait for them to open the door cause it's always locked. Thw wall are also thin as paper.

All the experience from the beginning to the end was terrible. The hotel staff doesn't speak English or even French. For any request I made they phoned the "manager" who spoke to me on the phone, in a very rude manner. They tried to charge me more than what was on the reservation, with the excuse of "processing charges". They... More

This is definitely not the best hotel out there and I didn't sleep in the sheets because of the scary reviews, but it is not a terrible dump. The rooms are very small, and no towels are provided, but it did the job for a weekend stay. I would only recommend if you absolutely need to save money.

Please never go there, don't do it to urself, unless you have some kind of torture fetiche. The place smells horribly, there is no reception, the personnel receives you in their pijamas, the place is creepy as hell. I booked and I could stay there, unfortunately I didn't get my Money back, which would be more than fair.

This is without a doubt the most horrendously vile hotel I have ever laid my eyes on. We are travellers, so have stayed in our fair share of cheep hostels and therefore were optimistic about the reviews to this place. Terrible mistake. For one the smells were vulgar. We had to make a quick exit on first arriving in our... More

My girlfriend and I needed a place to stay downtown for a short visit she was making to Montreal. I really wanted to show her the best the city had to offer and chose the Hotel Arena Palace for its great location, value, and privacy. We had a fantastic time out in about around the Cartier des Spectacles and after... More

The first contact while entering the hotel was a young lady offering ''company services'' They did´t clean the room in a week. Always ring te door's bell and wait to get open. Don´t like to... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
