This is a lovely hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. A personable and efficient staff although a more experienced bartender would be in order. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. Many restaurants within walking distance and Old Montreal is easy to explore from here. A very nice breakfast was included in the price. I definitely recommend it.

Going to Montreal? Stay here and use the money you save on nice dinners in Old Montreal! The art on every floor, in the lobby, and in front of the hotel is spectacular. The hotel is owned by the owner of Guess? jeans, which i thought was interesting. Seriously, this place is so beautiful, you would be nuts to spend...

This is a really great hotel in an excellent location, less than 5 mins walk from the Cathedral. The art around the hotel is worth a visit to all floors to have a look at. There are numerous good restaurants within easy reach. The only downside were the reception staff who seemed very inexperienced ( I thought they might have...

I love this hotel. We stayed here again last month. We were traveling with my brother and sister-in-law, who are very artistic. They really enjoyed checking out each hall to see which artists works were on display. We had been upgraded, maybe because it's our second stay, not sure, but it was fantastic. The Jim Dine room was spectacular. A...

We just returned from a two night stay in this lovely, artsy hotel. The lobby is filled with contemporary art, and the staff couldnt have been friendlier. As a matter of fact, I left something of value in our room, called the hotel the next day, and they kindly FedExed it to me in the states. We had a large,...

We had a quick stay at LHotel in Vieux-Montreal. Hotel staff was friendly and very accommodating. Our room was very enjoyable and comfortable, high ceilings, nice amenities, jacuzzi tub, great pillow top mattress and super soft sheets. Nice artwork. Note: Rooms are indeed not completely soundproof; you do hear noise from corridor and room above.

We stayed at L'hotel for 3 night this past weekend. We were upgraded to a queen suite (don't know why but very happy!). The hotel is beautiful. There is original artwork by contemporary artists throughout the hallways. We were in the Jim Dine Suite. The staff are very nice and efficient. I will stay here whenever I come to Montreal!!!

Beautifully appointed hotel in all areas, room, hallways, and lobby. Our room was much bigger than expected, very spacious in fact, and no issues with the bathroom either. Close to most touristy locations in the old port and about a 15 minute walk to the station and St. Catherine's Street. The staff were very attentive, too. No problems at all...

My wife and I stayed at the LHotel for 5 days in September 2013. The hotel is on the edge of the old town, in a pretty good location, and is effectively an art gallery with in-house lodging. We paid about $155 including breakfast. If seeing a bunch of original sculptures and paintings up close is thrilling to you, you'll...

We stayed at this amazing hotel for 4 nights at the beginning of October. It was an unforgettable experience. The staff happy and helpful, the situation perfect on the edge of the Vieux Ville with restaurants and bars two minutes away. It was like visiting an art gallery with a new delight around every corner. We had an original Chagall...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
