LHotel is a wonderful gem in stunning Montreal with location, comfort, and service galore! Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff are the icing on the cake in this 3.5-star that wins against many 4-stars. Stunning art collection on full display adds depth to a fun experience, underpinning conversations over refreshments. Enjoy Montreal for F1 in June, and be cared for with...

This is a great hotel. It punches above its weight in terms of its 3.5 star tripadvisor rating, with its exquisite façade from a former life, its location right in the middle of Vieux Montreal, easy walking distance to the city loop buses, train, other main hotels etc. Notre Dame Cathedral is only 1 small block up the street. Restaurants...

Just a few minutes walk to all of the tourist attractions in Vieux-Montreal, L'Hotel is in an outstanding location. The staff was friendly and helpful. As an added plus you can wander the public areas and see an interesting art collection. Our stay was like being in a warm and friendly art museum. The continental breakfast included in our rate...

Wife and I stayed 6 nights in this hotel in the old section of Montreal. Excellent hotel in a terrific location. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was large and quiet. Bed was comfy. Enjoyed having pod coffee maker in room. My rate included breakfast each morning--good deal and tasty breakfast (yogurt, cheese, fruit, bagels, croissants, milk/cereal,...

I love the lobby in this hotel. I'm a big fan of the Kimpton chain, and this reminds me of one their hotels. The lobby and hallways have all sorts of interesting art and its fun to sit downstairs and have a glass of wine. When it comes to rooms, I have two major criteria. Is the bed comfortable and...

Delightful hotel with very comfortable and very clean rooms. Walking distance to many tourist attractions. We included breakfast in our room rate and we were very happy we did. My reason for giving it 4 is because the reception staff made no attempt to engage with us, preferring to talk to each other.

The L Hotel is an excelent choice in Montreal. The room was clean, nice and big! The lobby is decorated with art pieces and the music that was always playing was very good!!! Not expensive and worth every dolar. Staff was helpful and nice! Just a few steps from Notre Dame basilique. Would definitely stay again.

The staff was helpful with directing us to good restaurants and answering our questions about getting around Montreal. Our room and bathroom were large and clean. We would stay here again. The continental breakfast was also very good.

After a train ride from Ottawa, we had arrived in Montreal for the first time. Had longed to visit this beautiful Cosmopolitan city for many years and finally arrived but due to the heavy snowfall, we dare not leave the train station for a while - so stayed for lunch and bought some gifts for a friend and even did...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
