The location is probably the reason to stay here. It's in a neat neighborhood with a lot going on. There were homeless people sleeping to the right and left of the front entrance however. Lots of vacant storefronts, but still an interesting neighborhood. The hotel itself is a bit dormish. In fact there were a lot of school kids staying...

A little disappointed with this hotel after reading excellent reviews before booking. First the positives-The hotel was located in a good area and I had no concerns walking around. The beds were comfy and the price was reasonable. Negatives-fairly large whitish stain on the comforter...should have been replaced before we got there.Afraid to even know what that was. No tissues...

We were traveling in a family group - I will admit that I had my concerns initially - based on some of the reviews I saw here, and on scouting out the neighbourhood on Google Map - but the place isn't too bad - really! There was a tiny mix-up when we arrived - caused by one of our group...

Only there for a night stay, but very close to some trendy bars and historic architecture. Very modest rooms, equipped with a Keurig. Good to know for next time and I can bring my own from home. Not the kind of room where I would spend a lot of time, more a place to hang your hat before going out....

So I was a little concerned based on some reviews. But the price was great for a hotel that was near downtown and had parking for $16 a night in a garage around the corner, with in and out privileges. The outside isn't much to look at but the inside is better. It's not a luxury hotel but great for...

I wanted to love this hotel based on other reviews but alas could not.... More student dorm feel than hotel, and very dated. Clean and centrally located but you could hear neighbours in next room through the walls, and the one ply brown toilet paper just put me over the edge... Inexpensive, but not anywhere near what other reviewers have...

We had a truly brilliant time at the Hotel St. Denis !! Close to all the restaurants and pubs on St Denis Street and a short 10min walk to Old Montreal. But the truly amazing part of this trip was the interaction with the hotel staff and ownership of this hotel. They were so professional and helpful that I was...

A huge jacuzzi, large confy bed, near Berri-UQAM Subway Station and Orleans Express Bus Station. I will definetly come back. The hotel itself dates a bit, but the jacuzzi makes the room ok :) I used it twice during my 1-day stay. Great value.

Hotel St Denis is my go-to hotel when in Montreal--for the last 8 years. I've never had less than a great experience: always very clean; front desk staff always congenial, knowledgeable, and professional. The location is very convenient to metro, bus station/car rental, good eateries and sites. Not a chain--a plus in my book. Reliably perfect for my modest needs...

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.
