Recently spent 3 nights here. Not impressive on the outside upon arriving, however once you meet the staff, you'r glad you are here. Location is very near the Cathedral in the middle of old town. Walking to restaurants is a snap. I saw several rooms. All were different and very large. The prepaid breakfast is nothing to brag about but...

It may cost a little more but the location, room and service offered make it worthwhile. Located in the old town and adjacent to the Basilica and the heart of the city this hotel offers visitors all the convenience of being able to explore for a few hours then return to your room for a break before starting out again....

Dear independent50s, Thank you for the very useful and detailed review. My only disappointment was to read that you weren't able to try some of the fantastic cafés close to the hotel (near by, on St-Paul street). If you ever make it to Montreal again (I see you are from Australia), we will be delighted to direct you there. Best...

A unique hotel behind the cathedral in the old quarter of Montreal. Large, spacious, comfortable rooms with excellent facilities. We spent 3 nights in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were helpful with excellent restaurant recommendations.

Hotel is in the heart of old Montreal, around the corner from the Notre-Dame Basilica and within walking distance to most sightseeing locations, as well as Chinatown, train centre etc. Lots of eating options and shops nearby. Staff are extremely nice and were very accommodating as we arrived on a 5:30am flight and they allowed us to check in early...

Had an amazing experience. Staff was very friendly and helpful in giving suggestions for restaurants and shopping. Room was really nice and had a garden view. There is some construction going on next door but since our room was towards the back we could not hear any noises. Suite was nicely designed and bed very comfortable. Best of all is...

My husband and I stayed 8 nights in September. We had a large suite with a mini kitchen which was great for our length of stay. Good location as it is close to the town and the port. Many restaurants near by.

We really enjoyed our three nights here. Right in the middle of the Old Port area, around the corner from the Notre Dame Basilica, a few steps from Rue St. Paul shopping area and plenty of wonderful restaurants. Our room had a separate bedroom and a living room, a little terrace with two chairs, and a spacious bathroom. I think...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
