It was a great place to stay. Room was very large and the Jacuzzi a nice size. Very clean. The bed is very firm just in case you do not like that, and there are trains that go by til late enough, but the windows do muffle the sound of it quite nicely. There are no elevators so please be...

Updated vintage hotel in great location. Big rooms, comfy bed, clean, great staff. Has toaster, small fridge so bring your breakfast and snacks. Easy walking distance to most local attractions and the biking on the promonade. On main street so hear city noise but to be expected and not extreme.

Great location - close to many of the sites in Montreal and a great variety of restaurants. Beautiful decorated rooms and great service. Buses to cruise ships 200 yards away and free. I will definitely recommend this place.

Our Sep 2016 trip to Montreal was our fourth and we've stayed here each time. The location is great and access to public transportation is closeby. The rooms are great and the staff has always been wonderful to my wife and me. We love the old city. Everyone in Montreal has been so nice and helpful as well. I highly...

The hotel is in an older, charming building with lots of character. The location in Old Montreal is perfect - across for the Port and the Metro a few blocks away. The room and bathroom were very large and the staff was pleasant. There's no elevator, not a problem for us, but want to note for those it may be.

We were in Montreal over Labor Day weekend and picked this hotel because of it's close proximity to the cruise ship port (which unfortunately was temporarily moved 4 miles out.) Still the location was great for walks around the old town, and along the waterfront--and for breakfast along the sidewalk. It's a very European hotel in a very European city....

Great big beautiful CLEAN rooms with plenty of character in old Montreal. What can bad? Because the Auberge is so homelike, do not expect an elevator! If you have trouble with stairs, it might be a problem. Also, often there will be no person at the front desk (again, like home living. You receive a personal code to enter the...

I stayed here for a few days in August and this hotel was so great. The location is perfect, the staff was super friendly and super helpful. I loved the charming rooms and home like quality of the rooms. Lots of great cafes right outside the door. I will stay here again when I visit Montreal!

Lovely inn. The rooms were spacious and the bath well appointed. The location is terrific and an easy walk to many sites and restaurants in Old Montreal. As another noted, there is no elevator, so be prepared for the stairs.

This was a lovely inn with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The location was fantastic. It does not, however, have an elevator, so you should keep that in mind, and the lobby is quite small. That is only a problem when several travelers are checking in at one time. The coded entry offers excellent security.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
