Fabulous location, unusually large room & bathroom, friendly, quaint. Love the welcoming blackboards with guest names on each door. Would have rated a 5 but shower not great...would still stay again regardless!

Wonderful, funky hotel. Remember they don't have an elevator. We didn't mind. Bed was a little noisy, but otherwise a very nice room in a great location in old Montreal. Would happily come back to stay there again!

Wonderful cosy place with splendid service. The rooms are big and are beautifully furnished. There are tables and chairs or couches by each window to enjoy the view of the river. The location is in the heart of old Montreal that allows you access to the Basilica, shops. cobbled streets and restaurants all within 5 minutes walk. Love to come...

Charming and reasonably priced hotel, no frills, no elevator, great location near Vieux-Port. Be aware that they will try to charge you $45/night to use a third sofa bed despite it being advertised differently online. We had to talk with the manager to get the charge waived. Staff is otherwise very helpful and accommodating.

We had a very large room on the third floor. It was charming and spacious with large windows. We were able to peek at other rooms when the staff was cleaning and people had checked out, and they all looked wonderful. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the decor was charming without being cutesy. This hotel is an...

Perfect room, perfect spot facing the river, just perfect. The room was big, with a spa bath, sitting area. Close to restaurants, and walking through Old Montreal. The staff was super friendly. A true gem at an affordable price. Would go back and would recommend 100%.

Found this to be a nice hotel and located conveniently in old Montreal. There are no elevators which is not a problem for us as we tend to use the stairs anyway, but the hotel has a quaintness to it and the suite we had was comfortable. Only issue we had was the the room mini-fridge did tend to have...

I really enjoyed staying at Auberge de la Place Royale. We were on the second floor. It was a week long vacation for my wife, my three teenage kids, and me. The space is perfect size for a family of five. The sleeping conditions were quite good. Staff was courteous if somewhat unfriendly. The location is ideal! We were snowed...

We were prepared for the hotel to be quaint and expected it to be charming. Parking was difficult being across the street at the Science Centre with no in and out at $25/day, there are no staff there at check, our room was run down (dirty chairs, pillow had a big hole in it, bathroom door wouldn't close, bathroom blind...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
