Visited Montreal with a group of 8 guys. Was referred to this hotel by a mutual friend in Montreal and was not disappointed. We reserverd 4 double rooms and asked that they be situated close to one another. We were all on the 17th floor which made it easy to move about room to room. Rooms were OK (I think...

This hotel has not lost its appeal after the many years it has been here. It is ele gant in a comfortable way, without being formal. It has an excellent health club and restaurants and its location couldn't be better. I would definitely go there again.

I have stayed at this hotel before and was quite satisfied with the stay, service and beds specifically (great night sleep). However this past business trip was not as memorable as usual. What is most important to me is cleanliness and the beds, I need a good night sleep and the Fairmont hotels are well known for thier great beds/pillows...

The staff was attentive. We arrived at 2 am. I had called throughout the day to let them know our flight was delayed. On arrival we had been upgraded to a beautiful one bedroom suite. We were able to order room service and had wine and pizza at 2:30 am. The hotel restaurant had wonderful breakfast buffet and dinner was...

I recently visited Montreal with my boyfriend and we stayed at the Fairmont. WOW does this hotel have it ALL! While all the rooms are nice, I would definitely recommend staying on the 18th and 19th floors, what they call "Fairmont Gold." It's really only slightly more than other rooms, but so worth it. The room itself was tastefully decorated...

My hubby and I needed a break after long visits with family and such. We decided to stop over in Montréal for a few days and reserved a room at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel (Fairmont). Best decision ever. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The food (breakfast buffet and evening dining) were stellar.

For train travellers, a joy of the QE is the ability to walk from train to hotel without poking your head outside. Another pleasure is its location, right in the centre of the city. But the hotel is 60+ years old, and no amount of cosmetics can entirely hide that: ceilings are low-ish, for example, and light is limited. Our...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
