Our son bought tickets to the Distant Words Philharmonic Symphony/Vocal concert featuring the music from the Final Fantasy video games. While the orchestra played the music, computer animations were being shown on the huge overhead screen. It was fantastic and there were also appearances by two of the original vocalists on the games who gave stunning performances. The whole thing...

We were booked in this hotel for the weekend by a University that had us invited for a speech . At first we were booked in a room with a shared bathroom but we asked for an upgrade to a room with private bathroom. After reading all the reviews we were a little apprehensive about the hotel . We had...

Thank you for your lovely comment. Keep in mind that we offer different categories of rooms : budget with shared bathrooms, SUPERIORS with private bathrooms and Studios with a kitchenette and private bathroom. As we are located inside an historical building we are presently allowed by the city of Montreal to build an elevator shaft inside our hotel. But It...

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, mainly because of the friendly staff. The price per night is great, so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. The rooms are sufficient. We had a nice view of the street. There was also complimentary continental breakfast.

I reserved a room at the l'Abri through booking dot com at a rate that seemed like a misprint or a bait-and-switch, with some confusion if the quote was denominated in US or Canadian. Either way it was under $60 so I bit. How could one go wrong at that rate? I reasoned. The I perused the reviews published here....

Stayed here for two nights in June. Very much enjoyed our stay. Beautiful old building with restored brick walls. Comp breakfast was small and quite simple but seemed to vary daily and was very tasty. We were accidently there just before the start of a huge street festival right on St. Catherine's Street. There seemed to be people roaming around...

My husband and I went to Montreal to watch the habs play...and this seemed like a good hotel to rent for the night since it was cheap and since we were just planning on just sleeping there anyways...Well you get what you pay for! The only rooms that were available ( which we weren't even notified of) was this cheap,...

My boyfriend and I were visiting Montreal for the very first time. Hello, I'm sorry that you were not satisfait with our hotel. I learn from my staff about your situation. I also checked the TV in your room and everything was ok. We stayed here for 1 night, in a suite room. The room we had had a very cold feel, the bed was really hard so much so I hardly slept at all! The overall appearance was like many Hostels, run down, patch up and make do, but City Centre for £70-75 not bad (i.e. That's Why 3 stars and not...

Staying in Quartier des Spectacles

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier des Spectacles
The bar-none entertainment district for music and arts, Quartier des Spectacles is an interactive playground that delights the senses. It totals over 30 performance halls, with the vibrant Place des Festivals at its heart. The outdoor event space features glowing towers, glass edifices, and granite-lined bike paths, and hosts annual festivals, concerts, and comedy nights. The cinema, theatres, and exhibition centres are entwined with external art projects, exemplified at Montreal's Contemporary Art Museum and appearing along every walkway of the Promenade des Artistes in the form of sculpture and public works, from digitally-enhanced swingsets to glowing fountains. Design, performance, and alternative music come together here, a stone's throw from the lively Latin Quarter along Rue Saint-Denis, the quintessential after-party spot for dinner and a drink following a day of jazz, poetry and play.

High ceilings, bare brick walls, maple-wood floors, continental doors are reminiscent of the past and give our hotel a unique personality.
