The InterContinental Montreal, an IHG Hotel, enjoys applause for its prime location, a stone's throw away from Old Montreal and downtown attractions. While the ample rooms and commendable cleanliness receive nods of approval, the dated atmosphere and decor are flagged as in need of a refresh. Opinions on service are split; some guests commend the friendly staff, while others cite service lapses. Amenities generally meet expectations, yet loyalty perks and renovations are areas highlighted for improvement. Visitors also note the sting of unexpected charges, questioning the overall value.

Top Quality hotel. We booked a Club room with access to the Club Lounge. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The food was good and affordable and breakfast in the Club lounge was free. The concierge service was particularly good with Chantal being extremely helpful.

In July 2019, I visited Montreal for the first time and decided to stay at the InterContinental hotel. As an IHG rewards club member, I had recently became an Ambassador and decided to assess the benefits of the membership.

I was placed on the 25th floor and had an excellent view of the skyline but more importantly, the water fountain La Joute in Place Jean-Paul Ripolle. This fountain on an hourly basis from around 6:00 pm each evening displayed smoke and fire for approximately 30 minutes. This was a unique display which I would recommend to anyone who visits Montreal.

The room was spacious and always well maintained. On my arrival, I had a small treat of small cupcakes which were delicious. The hotel also provided a small booklet which contained special offers or discounts.

In terms of the facilty it was up to the standard expected from IHG and the reception and conceirge were extremely helpful when information was being sought from them. The conceirge was instrumental in contacting the tour company for the Old Montreal Tasting and Cultural Walking tour which I proceeded on. This was a delight.

On the day before leaving the hotel, housekeeping left a card in the room wishing me a safe trip home. This was appreciated.

My only disappointment was that the membership level did not allow for free access to the Lounge. There was an added cost to utilize the facility. I found this to be ironic as I had an upcoming stay at the Intercontinental in the UK which included Lounge access. This was a reminder that each InterContinental hotel operates differently.

Overall, my stay at the Intercontinental was uneventful and I would seriously consider staying there in the future.

Dear Ronnie_Adventurer, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with our team. We are delighted to learn that you enjoy the hotel and the service provided. We are sorry about the lounge, I am not aware of the rules of Ambassadeur membership in Europe, but I can assure you that we followed the policies stated for the Ambassador member here in America. Sincerely, Melanie Simard

Hotel's location is excellent- close to the Place-d'Armes and Square Victoria Metro stations. A short walk also takes you to the Old Port in one direction and the downtown in the other. The room is very clean and well appointed and the wifi is good. Though there're a couple of negatives: We asked for a quiet room and was given a standard room with a small window and it doesn't allow much much light into the room. On top of it, there's not enough light source in the room. When we had to use the safe or make the coffee, we had to use our phones to light up the area. The other downside is the mattress on the king bed sags a bit in the middle which makes for a barely comfortable sleep.

With the Covid protocols, guests were told to be out of the room for at least 4 hours in order for the housekeeping to clean the room. We decided we didn't need the daily housekeeping and it was perfectly fine.

There is a cafe and bakery next to the hotel where you can get coffee and Montreal bagels for a light breakfast.

Stayed here for 3 nights in February after scoring a great room rate via a discount website. The hotel is in a great location, very close to Notre Dame, the "Oasis Immersion" attraction, the Old Port area, and many restaurants. You can even get to a Metro station without having to go outside!

Several other reviewers have mentioned the underground parking garage. Hotel guests are allowed to park on levels 9-12, and it does feel a bit like you're driving to the center of the earth, but we felt the rate was reasonable, and it was nice to know the car was tucked away in a garage. You have to bring your own bags up from the garage, which wasn't a problem for us, as we had only one small bag each.

Our room was on the 22nd floor, at the end of a hallway. The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable, and there are two huge pillows for each person. We had a lovely view of the city out of our window. Water temperature in the shower was good, and the water pressure was more than adequate -- it was so intense, it was like getting a massage!

This is my family's second visit to Montreal and our 2nd stay at InterContinental. The hotel is a bit older but very updated and the rooms are large. Our family of 4 had a king size and a full size bed with enough room to not feel overly crowded. Though our favorite highlight at the InterContinental is Ms Chantal Beaudoin, the hotel concierge. Both visits, she armed us with stellar restaurant recommendations, children friendly activities, guides to the underground city, etc. We had tons of questions - what to do, where to eat, how to get there... She really knows Montreal. Thank you, Chantal.. we'll be back next winter break!!

The hotel is a little bit dated but the rooms are in good condition and the hotel is in a good location. The bed and furniture in the room was very comfy and I liked how easy it was to connect to the TV and stream my shows. The bathroom was very clean and had good water pressure. I asked and they kindly gave me a room with a view of the Jacques Cartier Bridge so I could see the fireworks Saturday night.

The only letdown was the pool area as the pool is quite small and there isn't much space to sit and lunch. There is a nice terrace just outside the pool with lounge chairs and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it on a quieter day. I had to ask the fitness area attendant for a locker key for the change room and I had to go back to him to get a towel once I didn't find one in the locker. I spent some time in the change room sauna and steam room too and they were at nice temperatures.

The breakfast in the morning was pretty good and the wait staff were very helpful. We tried the taste of Quebec with cheese, meat and crepes and the bagel with smoke salmon. You can order complimentary bread and pastries with breakfast and those and the spreads that go with them are unlimited. Please note that paying to include breakfast with the hotel booking is like pre-paying as it cost $70 to book with breakfast and the breakfast cost about $70.

The hotel is located on a quieter street but is located very close to Old Town Montreal on quite a few restaurants. The closest Metro is Victoria Square but it is also very close to Place d'Arms which can be reached easily without going outside. The hotel is also connected to the Underground City so you can walk to many places without going out in the heat, rain or cold of Montreal and this was appreciated on our last day in the city in July where it was the hottest.

We travelled from the airport to the hotel using Bus 747 which you can buy tickets for in the airport ($10 in June 2022). The nearest stop is Jean-Mance but one thing to look out for using this is that not all of the buses have the electronic display showing their location (ours did not and we went two stops too far and had to walk back). If you get off on the right stop the hotel is a short walk away. We arrived at around 10pm.
The check in was quick and we were in our room pretty quick. The room was pretty good with a large comfortable bed and good WIFI. Our only gripes were the poor availability of tea and coffee making facilities (there was a pod type machine with about four pods replaced almost every day). I would prefer a kettle so we can get tee bags, coffee ourselves if needed. The other issue we had was the TV which had only one or two English speaking channels and we had problems casting our Netflix. However the hotel did send two people to try and fix this issue and it mostly worked after that.
We decided not to have breakfast as the restaurant breakfast was twice the cost of the external restaurants although we did have dinner here on our last night (we stayed for 10 nights) and the food and service were very good and thee meal only a little more expensive than we had been paying.
The location was pretty good and is half way between the two main tourist areas which are both within walking distance. You can also access the Metro direct from the hotels link to the underground shopping and eating areas so in bad weather you can use it to either reduce walking outside or getting on the Metro for longer trips.,

We stayed at the Intercontinental for 4 nights on our first trip to Montreal. The hotel is on the border of Old Montreal and Downtown which provided excellent walking potential to everywhere we wanted to visit in the city from the old port to the Museum of Fine Arts and Mount Royal Park. The room was nicely furnished with very heavy black out curtains that helped us sleep in. Could not tell if it was day or night! We did think the bed was quite hard. If you are driving to the hotel, there is self park that is connected to the building so you don't have to go outside to get to your car. You do have to change elevators and walk through a business mall, but overall we found it convenient. Staff was perfunctory at best. A good stay overall.

Very neat Hotel, centrally located, 250m north from the old town, on a metro station, and 400m from place des arts, location is hard to beat.
The venue rooms starts on 10th floor, up to the 26th, which mean they almost all get a towering view on the surroundings. I booked a Montreal view room and they set me on the 26th and last floor.

They have an efficient Valet parking service, which I strongly suggest to use, unless you won't use your car during Yr stay (Cost 37CAD$ a day, but multiple entries are included, while self parking is 25CAD$ a day, no re entry possible the same day).

Reception area and rooms have been remade, its modern and plush.

However big disappointment with the reception experience, they did not want to honor my Ambassador status, and tried by all means to avoid the mandatory upgrade, and I had to request it, but they "couldnt" do the guaranteed 1 level up upgrade, which is compulsory according the program

This is a 1st ever in 12 years of being an Ambassador, the whole attitude was an issue.

They only gave me lounge entry to "compensate" after I requested for compensation, but honestly, free coffee vs next level upgrade is not going to compensate... but in thr reception mind it was the same.

Quiet a let down when the main reason to stay here is the Ambassador programme which guarantees it. They tried to skip most of their duties around my status during my stay, not delivering the platter of fruit, till after I requested it on day#2 once more, etc...

The hotel has a small 15m long (5m width) pool on 10th floor and a nice sun deck. The hotel lounge serve breakfast and from 5 to 7pm offers alcohol,if you have the perk its ok, otherwise it's overrated.

The executive room was big with around 28sqm, the shower is tiny though,  but the bathroom was comfortable. The view to the west from 2624 was magnificent.

Room was clean when I checked in, but they wouldn't hoover the carpet and the food crumbles I left near the desk weren't cleaned on day 3 of my stay, while they were highly visible.

The lifts, even limited to 3 for a 26 floors venue, worked well, and despite a bit of wait sometime, it went well for such a high rise.

The service was friendly as it is in general in Quebec, and professional. Cleaning personnal was invisibile, highly professional in appearance.

All in all, a very good IC venue which I can recommend as a central hotel if you want to explore montreal or need to stay for a professional stay, but if you are an Ambassador, beware, they might not provide you with the guaranteed perks, as an IHG member i had a rather poor experience, as a common guest the hotel is rather fine.
No matter what they ll answer to this review, they unfortunately didn't recognise nor sought to honor the IHG status programme when I checked in, this is a serious let down for me

Stayed here for Christmas 2019 and I have to say, I loved it. A difficult time to be away from home but the staff made it memorable. Room was a twin bedded room on the 20th floor. Very clean with all amenities you'd need.

Breakfast was a buffet and had everything you'd want, nothing was too much trouble. We spent the evening of Christmas day in the bar and the bar staff were very attentive. Had lunch in the restaurant on the 25th and the food and service was excellent.

Taxis are available right outside the door and there is direct access to a small mall beneath the hotel.

All in all a trip that could have been really downbeat, was actually enjoyed by all the family. Thanks to all the staff here. Can't wait to come back for a longer stay.
