I stayed 2 nights & both nights were good, clean room, free breakfast & would recommend to stay. Close to the subway so easy to get around but shops & bars are within walking distance. Do the walking tour to the royal crescent, its free & worth it.

Bonjour, Thanks for the recommendation. Also, we now organize ice skating activities twice a week during the months of January and February... Come and give it a try, it’s fun! :) Nic, hostel manager

The hostel is clean with very large rooms. There were 6 beds in the room I was in, but they come with a locker for you to keep valuables in. The hostel is in a good location, right next to the Ice Hockey stadium and only about a 30 minute walk (or tube) to downtime Montreal. The hostel provided nights...

HI-Montreal was very clean and in a pretty good location - close enough to the downtown area. Not exactly walking distance to clubs (especially if you're in heels!!), so I'd recommend taking a taxi. The hostel was great overall, except for the fact that my friend and I were charged a "booking fee" for having used Hostelworld (said the receptionist)....

Bonjour! Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. If I am happy to read that you had a good time while staying with us, I am sorry about the confusion regarding the price. Needless to say there are absolutely no booking fees for using Hostelworld, or any other booking engines. As a member based organization, I suppose...

Great hostel, everything was clean and nice. Reception were bilingual which is good. Location pretty good you can walk to quite a lot of things. Breakfast was really good too. The only down side is we booked a female room but were put in a male/female dormitory. I would still return though, the price cant be beat.

Stayed here whilst travelling with a friend. Have to say the Hostel is really nice. The staff are incredibly friendly and happily direct you anywhere. Stayed in a 10 mixed dorm room - people were brilliant, rooms were nicely laid out! The only problem with our room was the shower, no power and the water dripped out, so ended up...

Very nice stay: the hostel is located in city center, very close to the subway station, the shuttle stop for/from the airport and close to some pubs in the area of the hostel. Nice the activities organized by the staff like the tour in Quebec city, possibility to rent bike for all day etc. Cleanness, breakfast and facilities are more...

Thanks for the good words... If I may correct on thing though, we do not offer tours of Quebec City... Even if Quebec City is only a 3 hours bus ride from Montréal, we much prefer to focus on Montréal during our daily activities!! ;)) Bon Voyage, Nic, hostel manager

Me and a friend were staying in HI Montreal for 4 nights. And we had a good time there. The rooms were not too big but clean and quiet. The kitchen was clean as well but didn´t have an oven. We had breakfest included. It was ok. The best were the fruits which were served. The coffe was good. Furthermore...

Hostel is located just a 10 minute walk from the train station and very close to the main shopping area. Cheapest hostel I have stayed at in Canada. But still provided an excellent nights sleep and free breakfast consisting of bagels, fruit & juice. Hostel also provides daily activities and the receptiin staff were very helpful.

I stayed here with my friend for just one night. Seemed nice and clean and the check in had a ton of information you can take with you. There are shuttles once a week to ottawa and back for 10 dollars! Nice and cheap. We found somewhere cheaper in old Montreal so we moved locations but was a nice stay...

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
