Neighbourhood
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.

Had a great experience. The people in my room were lovely and I had some good conversations. Convenient location. The kitchen and breakfast are great too. I would definitely come back. Good facilities. Rooms are clean.

Really lovely hostel with helpful staff. The breakfast is decent and served until 11!

I booked this place as it is right near the Bell Centre for the hockey and from leaving my seat in the venue to getting into bed at the hostel was about 10 minutes. Amazing! And saved battling

Stayed here because the location was within walking distance of a lot of places I wanted to check out. Stayed in a private and the room was very clean and cute. My only complaint (and it’s not a big one!) was that my door was across from a staff area and I wasn’t able to have a l

Just about seen all the HI Hostels in Canada now and you would have to work pretty hard to beat this one. Having just come from the Hi Hostel in Toronto the comparisons are striking with Toronto getting bested pretty badly. For twice the money in Toronto you get a very poor meal,

Hello Warren and thank you kindly for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are glad that you enjoyed it! To play devil’s advocate regarding the Toronto property, that city is a pretty expensive one to live in and yet the HI Toronto property certainly remains a deal -and ideal!- for backpackers going to visit Canada’s largest city! :) Hoping that we will see you again soon! Lovely staff, rooms basic and slightly run down but clean and absolutely fine. Each bunk has two plugs and a bedside lamp, and you get bedding and a towel as you arrive. Bring a padlock for valuable (usual in hostels - or buy it at reception). I borrowed a hairdryer as well which

Do all private rooms have private, non-shared bathrooms?
Ours did. Can't be more general than that. I'd call them...

Is this place wheelchair accesible? Would be staying in a private room with a companion.
There are steps up to the entrance, and then only stairs up to the rooms and down to the kitchen and dining area as far as I recall, so probably not wheelchair accessible. But I would suggest contacting the hostel directly, I may not have noticed how they accommodate wheelchair access. Good luck and hope you can find suitable accommodation - Canada is generally quite accessible.

Hi I am traveling with my brother next month to montreal for a couple of nights and we are driving there, is there a parking garage near by where we can leave the car and if so, what's the rate? Thank you in advance :)
Hi! I wish I could help more in this situation. My group arrived in a large truck and parked it on the street in front of the building. We did have to pay for street parking. As far as a parking structure, I didn't see any near by, we walked a lot in that general area, but didn't see anything to change our mind about our parking location. Have fun! The bar / common area down stairs was a great time.

Hi, I am staying at HI in July. Were you able to park overnight nearby?
I didn't have a car, but there was pretty big and pretty empty parking just in front of the hostel. I can send you photos.
