My test of a hotel is whether, after leaving the location and having to return, deciding that I would return to THAT hotel. The Auberge passed that test but with some qualifications. First, the good. The staff was very friendly, tolerating my abysmal French, and offering help with the bags. In fact the owner came to the room and carried... More

I stayed at this hotel for three days in mid-May and had a great time. After reading of all the great breakfast reviews and ability to use their kitchen to store your food (I always have leftovers and love to have tea and dessert at the hotel when I travel) I decided to split up my stay in downtown Montreal... My husband and I spent a beautiful summer weekend in Montreal staying at the Auberge de La Fontaine. The location is perfect (right across from bike rental and on Rue Rachel with a bike lane!), the staff very accomodating, the health breakfast, and the room comfortable. While we toured Old Montreal, downtown, etc we liked the location of the Auberge given... More

I would rate the hotel in general as average in terms of room size, furnishings, bathroom, room temperature etc. but it is in a nice quiet location of Montreal and only a few blocks to the Metro. The staff however are fantastic and always more than happy to help and spoke very good English. The breakfast buffet was healthy and... More

We stayed at the Auberge de La Fontaine after looking at reviews on TripAdvisor and really pleased we did. It was our first trip to Montreal as we went for the Grand Prix so relied on other peoples comments for the Hotel. We arrived in Montreal late so emailed them to advise them of this and also asked for a... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Auberge de La Fontaine. It was our first trip to Montreal, and we were traveling with an eight-month old baby. Make sure to mention you're traveling with babies or children, so that they can accommodate you. They were definitely ready for our stay. When we arrived we were informed that we'd been upgraded... Based on the reviews I read - I chose Auberge de la Fontaine. We were not disappointed. The room was great, private bath, hair dryer, lots of choices for breakfast, comfortable bed, extra pillows, free parking and hotel staff will tell you were you can park. Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
