We have been regular visitors at Hotel de l'Institut over the years . Long before it received all these good reviews on travel sites, it has always been a great value for money in Montreal and a hidden gem , so to speak… sadly , no more!!! Our last visit to this hotel was very disappointing and it is a...

I had to drive to Montreal from Boston twice last winter and I stayed here both times. It is a very convenient place to stay with a car . There is a parking garage under the hotel with self parking. The hotel sells you a 24 hour pass that allows for unlimited entries. It snowed both times I was in...

It was our second stay at this hotel, and we wold stay there again. Clean, quiet very modern rooms, most with a lovely view. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere ... bright with lots of windows, overlooking St Denis Street. Pleasant service and a delicious breakfast buffet.

It was fun staying in this hotel. Fun to see teachers and professionals teaching students. Good value for the accommodation. Personally I had an issue with the quality of breakfast so I enjoyed very much crossing the street to visit Mamie Clafoutis bakery. The only other issue is the wifi, you have to keep on signing in every time your...

This establishment boasting few rooms and a large restaurant on the main floor is the best value in downtown area of Montreal (Quebec). The area is full of restaurants (mostly French cuisine) and some very well-rated. However, the hotel's restaurant can compete for the best of tem in the area... Especially when the student chefs are cooking (only certain days...

This hotel is a good option if you do not object being served by people undergoing training, and bear all the potential consequences. My wife an I stayed for three nights in January and were submitted to unpleasant experiences. The front desk managed to check-in a second person to our room and a complete stranger walked into our room when...

First of all, thank you very much for taking the time to write your comments. As part of a teaching institution, guests’ comments are the best way for Hôtel de l’Institut to help the student learn. We are truly sorry about the different situations you were confronted with during your stay. I understand that this was not pleasant stay for...

This is a great hotel and many of the staff are training as part of the school which is housed in the hotel (that is the de l'institut part). Excellent service, great location, close to shopping, bars etc. and right beside a metro station, because nobody in their right mind should drive in Montreal. The breakfast, which is sometimes included,...

You get high quality service here as the staff are in training for high end hotel and restaurant careers. The rooms are ecologically friendly, with local goat milk bathroom products, sustainable materials used for the bed linen. The rooms had balconies, and mine faced a park (although too cold to sit outside). All the rooms are on the upper floors,...

This was a nice hotel in a convenient location. Great view of the city and across from a park. Walking distance to downtown and old port area. Handy to a metro station and regional bus station. Breakfast was reasonable and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had two stays during the month and the staff obligingly held our luggage...

Pro: price, bed (the bed was amazing!!!), cleanliness, free breakfast, friendly workers. Con: no microwave, I thought breakfast would be excellent but it was ok, not close enough to walk to old downtown when cold out. Overall, great hotel especially for the price and quality.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
