The hotel is situated very close to the bus 747 from the airport. It has a nice modern style to it and feels very "up to date".

The front desk ladies was helpful and professional. The check in went smoothly.

The room itself is very big with a big comfy bed. Bathroom had everything you needed and is very modern/big.

Breakfast was amazing with good options! It felt like eating on a very fancy restaurant and the staff was very aware when you needed refills like coffee.

So why the 4 and not the 5 star rating, As we came to our room we heard really loud music from the 6th floor. We where told there was a wedding going on.It ended after 00:00 am when we where told an hour before it would be "soon finished".

We had payed a lot for the room and was a little bit disappointed that they gave us a room just over the wedding. Giving us another room a little bit away from the music should be considered since we only had booked for a night. But we understand it can be difficult if there is many guest staying at the same time.

This gem was a unique accommodation find in Montreal. We were looking for a hotel off the Sherbrook, St. Catherine, Old Montreal area where there was a neighborhood feel with nearby restaurants and access to other areas of the city, such as Little Italy, Mile End, Jean-Talon Market, Mount Royal. I stumbled upon this hotel on google maps. It was not officially opened but the manager, Marianne offered us a room at a drastically reduced price. The hotel is a training institute for hoteliers and those in the hospitality industry and thus serves as a site to teach/train.

The rooms are all renovated. We stayed in three different ones during our stay. The Queen room plus queen murphy was well appointed (though small) with enough room for four. The murphy bed converts to a sofa area, with side tables. An area to enjoy coffee/read/watch tv. There is a nespresso machine and a cute pull out fridge. The bath is well designed and they promote quebec bath products which is great to see. The linen on the bed and the towels in the bath were very nice. There is also a balcony which had a nice view of mount royal. Everything was brand new. We also enjoyed the junior suite which had a living room/dining room area, and a bedroom with a closed door with an ensuite bathroom. This was very spacious and could accommodate 4 people very comfortably.

The hotel is at Sherbrooke station so we did not have to use our car. The underground garage offered 24 hour parking for $19. The location is on St. Denis which had several nice restaurants and is accessible to La Fontaine park (10 min walk).

The staff were exemplary. Huge shout out to Mariane, Julianne, Anise (from France) who went above and beyond to answer questions. They were warm and friendly. Mariane was especially helpful, adjusting rooms so we could stay longer than we originally planned. I would stay here again.

Staff were friendly and helpful, mostly young people cared about doing a good job. Location was excellent - right next to the metro, walking distance from the 747 airport bus, near a grocery store (Marche K), near bars and restaurants on Saint Denis, and not too far from the shops and restaurants on St Laurent. Breakfast was mostly the same every morning, but what they did was done very well - my favorites were the soft scrambled eggs, chocolate croissant, and granola with yogurt. Room was clean, balcony was fantastic, and we had what we needed.

The only way to watch streaming services was to chromecast to the tv from your own device. It worked fine our first night and then it stopped working for some reason we could not figure out. The staff came up and also could not figure it out. We ended up asking for an hdmi cable, which they brought. The wifi worked fine (one of my sisters had to work on her laptop and she didn't have an issue), but on the phone I had to reconnect every time.

After reading some reviews online, we chose I'ITHQ because of location largely. We were pleasantly surprised that it is located right next to the Metro which made getting to Old Montreal an easy ride of just 3 stops. The staff was efficient and most spoke English and French. The room was modern and the beds very comfy. We really liked the modular furnishings - student designed? The little balcony was a nice perk. The bathroom was very well appointed with a great shower. The little bakery off the lobby was good for very yummy pastry in the morning. The parking garage was convenient, relatively inexpensive ($19CAD/day), and kept our car out of the snow. Most of the restaurants in the area were "fast casual" which was a little disappointing. We'd stay here again if in Montreal.

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 25 years or so. We have always had an excellent experience here, but after the recent renovations, the hotel is even better. A nice touch: the high quality Oneka soaps and lotions. The room was clean, well equipped, and quiet, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The gourmet breakfast is outstanding. We parked in the convenient underground heated garage. The close proximity to the subway (metro) and to St. Denis and Sherbrooke streets makes the location very convenient. We highly recommend!

My wife and visited Montreal for four days and, after reading a number of glowing reviews, decided to stay at the ITHQ. The location was excellent, within walking distance of Old Montreal, Mont Royale, and near a number of great restaurants (La Fabrique was fantastic) and a wonderful jazz club. Also right next to a subway stop. The hotel is exceptionally clean and quiet, the staff very friendly, and the breakfast was nice. The parking garage below the hotel has a couple of EV chargers. I can highly recommend the hotel if you're looking for a great place to stay in Montreal.

We started our trip here and loved it. We found the queen bed a little small, but got used to it.

We stayed in a nicer hotel later, but found the location of the ITHQ was much better.

The street is great. Trying heading right (towards Mile End and away from downtown) and you’ll find plenty.

The restaurant hall is very high-end and feels luxury. The breakfast staff are polite and very professional.

Someone told us the front desk staff are all students, doing this for a bit of career experience. This tracks with their ages, and is impressive if so. Most of them – the manager especially – were very accommodating and switched on.

An interesting mix of 85% very nice and 15% not quite right. Staff was very professional, but it was odd that there would have been a $50 charge for a one hour late check-out. And $100 for two hours. The movie pop-corn smell in the lobby was unexpected and not in keeping with the level of inn keeping I was expecting. Too many storage bins and the like stored in hallways. Very nice breakfast buffet. The entry doors to the hotel were confusing at best.

Spacious rooms. Very comfortable. Breakfast is very good - lots of choices and excellent bagels, croissants. We were not rushed and the staff was attentive and friendly. Never pushed us to leave after breakfast was long over! Front desk staff were great guides and so helpful. Good location. We walked all the way to old Montréal in 35 minutes. Very central to many restaurants and bars. You have to pay for parking but worth it.

Any issues with bed bugs? How far is the hotel from the main shopping areas?
Answer from TheMontalbans
Chicago, Illinois146 contributions70 helpful votes
Agreed, the place is spotless. Like anywhere we stay, we do a bedbug check anyways and cross reference it to the bedbug registry. I usually do not shop while on vacation (can't fit in my carry on case), and the only place I know of is the Centre Eaton which is easily accessible by Metro (Metro station is behind the hotel). We took advantage of 3 Day Metro Pass (unlimited rides). Check out Boutique metiers d'art du Quebec in Old Montreal if you are looking for unique items from local artists as souvenir. Enjoy!
