This hotel was dirty and unkept. They only do maid service when you leave, and I'm not even certain how you get more towels. The shower had mold and was so disgusting I refused to use it. I have a mold allergy and coughed the whole trip. The furniture was decent (all IKEA) but our room was so dirty. Our... More

Stayed here 2 years ago and it WAS basic but clean and adequate for the money. Now the name has changed to Hotel Star and the ownership and management appear to have NO interest in the property. The lobby is dirty. A grimey microwave and crumb encrusted toaster are next to a dirty, stained sofa which sit right in front... More

I picked this hotel to try to stay within my travel budget which was easily done. That being said it was difficult to get to at first since there wasn't any parking. Checking in was OK, and getting luggage upstairs wad manageable. The room is, just a room I didn't have my hopes up because I knew what I booked.... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Centre-Ville for a weekend in July 2014. I had stayed in their sister hostel, Hotel Stay Mont-Royal, before and I liked it so we tried this location. The good: The staff are very friendly, and helpful. They stored our bags for check-out, and turned down the air-conditioning when it was too cold in... More

Let me preface my review by saying I stay in budget hotels all the time. I cannot say enough bad things about this hotel. I would have given it a negative star if the option was available. 1: I stood outside for over 15 minutes (doors locked) until finally someone came down to let me in. 2: I requested a... More

Stayed here with my boyfriend and loved it. We stayed here for 4 days and the room was clean and comfortable. Ambience was great - the owner was very nice and friendly, the breakfast was fresh and just right for two people on the go. He also gave us recommendations to eat in the area and things to see. Definitely... More

I have stayed at the hotel for 5 days and the owners were very welcoming and helping with anything I needed! The hotel is clean, comfortable and is perfectly located near the metro station and the central bus station. Many bars restaurants and sites in a walking distance. I will go back there again for sure.

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighbourhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomised by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
