We stayed there for two nights. The staffs are very nice and helpful. The position is very convenient for walking in the old city, a few steps to famous church and Metro station. Lots of eating just a few min. away by walk. The room is big, even in an old building, comfortable bed, big windows facing the woods. Lots...

This small (30 room) hotel in the heart of Vieux Montreal is wonderful. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are good size, clean, comfortable with all the amenities one needs. The building is old with great thick walls, deep casement windows which actually open and some nice woodwork details. The corridors are relatively wide and nicely lit...

Me and my husband we stayed 2 nights at the Auberge Bonaparte and we didn't want to leave. Every single person from Luc the hotel concierge to Mark the server, Eduard the bartender and Christophe the restaurant manager made sure we were happy, they absolute love their job and it shows. Every single guest is treated like a VIP. Dinner...

We stayed here for 2 nights in October 2014. The rooms are comfortable and inviting. We ate in the Auberge restaurant the first night and had a delicious meal. There is an excellent complimentary breakfast in the beautiful dining room. Plenty of coffee and everything cooked to order. The location is wonderful for seeing the sights. Would definitely stay here...

Very close to all major sightseeing points of the city. Nice restaurants in weakling distance, bike rental around the corner. We boarded a cruise ship the next day and even with luggage it took us 7 min to get to the cruise port. By the way for breakfast I had the beat French toast you can imagine.

We stayed here for a long weekend October 24-27. The Inn is in an old building which had a very nice remodel in the late 90's - the rooms are comfortable and "modern". The complimentary breakfast is excellent food, cooked to order. We also ate at the Auberge restaurant one night and it was a delicious meal. Luc, the concierge,...

This is a perfect location for visiting Montreal old town. The hotel has a real charm and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Their restaurant recommendations were spot on! The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was a real treat. I will now always use this hotel when visiting the city.

From the minute we walked in the front door until we left we felt welcomed and were treated as valued guests. The concierge, Luc, was particularly helpful. He has a charming personality and he spent a good deal of time helping us decide where to go and how to get there. The associated restaurant offer a wonderful breakfast as part...

We stayed here for three (3) nights in October 2014. The establishment met all of our expectations in that it was a charming inn/Auberge in a great location in Old Montreal. The front desk staff were friendly and provided advice on things to see and with maps, together with information on how the public transport worked. The elevator was modern...

I'm rating the Bonaparte five stars because of one little thing: arrived after a long day of travelling, looking tired and somewhat disheveled, went to the bar and said: I am so wrecked would give my right arm for a coffee. The man tending bar (possibly management) said: how about a cappuccino? I said something like: oh dear God, please....

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
