Room 401, facing the river-gorgeous view and room! Bathrobes, great shower, comfy bed. Only issue was it got very bright early in the morning, but you just had to keep the windows shut and shades pulled tight. We got the Romance Package which included a small bottle of Moet & Chandon with chocolate covered strawberries the first day. Breakfast was...

My boyfriend and I stayed here in honor of my college graduation, and I can't recommend this hotel enough. The staff was fantastic- we checked out in the morning, but they kept our bags downstairs so we did't have to worry about them. They were always smiling and checking in, making sure our stay was better than we had hoped....

We stayed in this hotel for two nights when we returned to Montreal after a trip around Nova Scotia and Quebec. I had high hopes for this hotel based on the reviews but I was left feeling a little underwhelmed about our experience. I paid a little extra for a room on the front of the hotel so we could...

With a beautiful view overlooking the water and located within the beautiful historic district, our family loved staying in this thoughtfully designed and very clean studio apartment. The staff was always ready to help and they had lots of ideas of places we could explore posted in public areas, in the rooms, and in conversation. We also enjoyed using their...

This hotel is in the center of the Old Port part of the city. It is a European style, boutique hotel. It is fairly small, but the hotel and the service are both very nice. Our room had beautiful wooden floors (no creaks), stone walls and beams in the ceiling. We also had floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the waterfront....

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comment and for taking the time to share your experience. We spoil our Guests with Valet service for you not to worry about your car when you arrive with us and that is an optional service as they are parking lots around the hotel that you can park at yet not under our supervision....

Having usually stayed in one of the larger hotel chains in rue Sherbrooke next to the main commercial district it was a pleasant change to stay in a much smaller boutique hotel in the Old Town. We occupied a fourth floor room with views of the harbour (complete with Maersk containers passing by on a train in the early morning)...

We recently spent 3 days at the Auberge, and we must say it is truly a great location to stay in Old Montreal. We had a beautiful room overlooking the front, and it offered everything you would like, and included a full breakfat. Coffe, flavoured water & fruit were availble in the lobby 24 hours a day. There is no...

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. ... more   less
