This was a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Close to shopping and restaurants yet very quiet with little street noise. The room was fairly small. I was hoping it would be a bit larger because we did reserve the Deluxe River View room but the window was so tiny you could not see the river. The hotel is expensive...

This hotel combines 19th-century charm with modern day comforts. Our fifth-floor room featured an exposed brick wall, uneven old wooden flooring, and two delightfully tall French windows that opened to fresh-air breezes and a good view of the river front. Attractive, vintage-style metal head and foot boards (in antique white) framed a very comfortable king-size bed. And if you're into...

Gorgeous hotel in the heart the Old Montreal's port area. Fabulous rooms, incredible service and food in all restaurants and beautiful views from the rooftop patio restaurant where we enjoyed the fireworks. Brilliant front desk staff - especially Lara - who went way above and beyond in organizing special touches for us.

We stayed here a weekend last summer and thoroughly enjoyed the location. The staff was extremely helpful, even helping bring up our bikes up the stairs into our room (no elevator). The room is very quaint and well designed. For the price, we were very pleased with the charming room we got. We were able to go from hotel to...

Stayed in hotel for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon trip & it was fantastic. The room was massive & I loved the exposed brick interiors in our room & the shower in the bathroom was amazing. Total luxury. The location of the hotel was fabulous, right by the pier & a bustling restaurant & pub scene all around....

This hotel strikes a good balance between old Montreal charm and a modern hotel. They have maintained the charm of the original building with exposed brick, but all of the creature comforts, (bed, bathroom, TV) are thoroughly modern and very comfortable. Additionally, the construction does a surprisingly good job of keeping the street noise out. The rooms are very clean....

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity.
