My husband and I were in Montreal for a very short sight-seeing trip and wanted a comfortable and stylish hotel for the night. We were lucky enough to read about Auberge du Vieux-Port and book ourselves a deluxe room - what a lovely hotel! The service was absolutely faultless; from the gentleman opening the front doors for us on arrival,... More

This was a charming hotel located right on the Old Port. It has a spacious lounge area with large windows that open up views of the street immediately in front of the hotel and the old piers that lay just across that street. Our room 103 had a great view and was spacious. For those interested in the view it... More

If I could the hotel more than five stars, I would. The accommodations and the ambience are magnificent and the staff is beyond nice and helpful. We arrived with short notice and the whole experience--including the food--was wonderful in every respect.

We enjoyed the Hotel, the location in "old town" and the city as well. A very fun vacation for us. We particularly appreciated the support of you desk staff who helped us out with reservations and places to go. We would definitely consider coming back, perhaps when it is a bit warmer, but it was fun in any event.

Auberge du Vieux-Port is a wonderful place filled with the friendliest staff. They went out of the way to direct us to the best eateries in the area, helped us with our visit to the Montreal Museum of Fine Art, and created nicest atmosphere. We will return without hesitation.

We recently spent 5 nights there, primarily on business, with some time for relaxation. It is located in Old Montreal, just opposite the port, with views out to the river. It is an old building, with lots of character. Our greeting, even if it was after midnight on arrival, was warm, friendly and very helpful. Our room was on the... More

Unprepossessing from the outside, but very warm and cozy inside with a lot of wood beams and paneling. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Rooms are large with pillars and beams and somewhat old fashioned (appropriate decor for this older building) but the bathrooms are large, bright and modern. The adjoining restaurant, where the included breakfast is... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. ... more   less
