A symbol of Old Montreal's rich history, Auberge du Vieux-Port is the area's only hotel settled along the Saint Lawrence River. The two structures that house its 45 rooms are over a century and a half old and once operated as warehouses, back when the waterway still forged city's life vein. With a classic, skillfully crafted make up, the idyllic inn's decor and architecture breathe an air of authenticity. Embrace time-honoured scenery, complemented by our team's warm, personable services. CITQ 127245

I have stayed in this hotel 4 times in the past 4 times visiting Montreal during the last several years. Its location is perfect for those who want to stay in Old Montreal. It is one of the few properties by the river. Having lunch/breakfast in their restaurant which has a nice view of the street along the river was very relaxing and pleasant. A lot of attraction can be reached by foot and is also not too far of a walk to the subway station. I love the decor of this hotel - trendy yet maintaining an unique old world charm with its exposed stone wall in the center of the old city. I love the beautiful large double casement windows of the rooms. I always stayed at the Signature King Room. It is spacious, comfortable and unique with a particular charm of its own. I particularly like the ones with the stone wall decor and the hotel staff was kind enough to assign me to one like that every time upon my request. The facility is clean, well-equipped and well-positioned. There are bathrobes, slippers, ironing board equipped in the rooms. The only drawback about the room is that it has pedestal sink with no countertop space although there is a shelving unit. It is not very convenient. I would expect a hotel at this category usually has bathrooms for the larger rooms with decent countertop space, especially when the bathrooms are spacious. The staff at the front desk are very responsive and attentive to the customers' needs. There is a nice rooftop terrace café where you can enjoy the view of Montreal. There is also valet parking available for a reasonable price. However, I must say that the price of the rooms have increased quite a bit almost annually during the summer period making it more difficult to afford staying there. I always look forward to staying at this hotel when I visit Montreal.

Visited Montreal for the weekend and so glad that we chose this place to stay. The front desk manager Magalie was so polite kind, and professional, and that was a great first impression that helped us decide with the booking as well. She gave us an upgrade to the apartment. Although it was on the fourth floor and there are no elevators, it didn’t really matter to us. The apartment was beautiful with a mezzanine level bedroom and also a separate bedroom on the main level. It was fully furnished, and there was nothing it lacked. The place is walking distance from the port and most of the other attractions. We had an unexpected delay with getting our vehicle from valet parking on the second day, and as a courtesy gesture the valet parking fee for our stay was credited. Overall had a very nice stay. Would certainly love to come back again, and grateful for Magalie’s courteous and helpful attitude. The five stars are well deserved!

The hotel is ideally located on the edge of Place Jacques-Cartier, in an excellently renovated historic building (a connected block of historic buildings actually). We have stayed there many times over the years on weekend holidays from our home in Vermont. The staff are excellent -- friendly and helpful, the rooms are great, and the restaurant is fine. On our latest visit we were upgraded to a superior room because we are repeat customers. There are many excellent restaurants and other sights within a short walk of the hotel, including multiple attractions along the river right across the street in front of the hotel.

The hotel has a good location making most of the sites in the old town walkable. Additionally the lobby is very welcoming and a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine in the evening. Our room was modern and clean, and offered all the amenities you could want.
Unfortunately, there were some things that weren't so good. The walls of the room were so thin we could everything going on nearby. The people in the street outside, the staff talking in the hallway, and the gusts in the adjacent room. We stayed multiple nights, and our room was serviced after the first night, but then never again. My final gripe is with the valet. There is no parking at the hotel, and valeting your car is the best and most reasonable option. And when you do so, you are told to let them know 15-20 minutes before you would like your car so they can get it for you. I did so, and 45 minutes later our car showed up making us late for the event we were attending.
For the price you pay to stay at this high-end hotel, these issues should not be happening.

Our first time visiting Montreal. This boutique hotel was really, really lovely. From the minute you walk through the front door with the mood lighting and fire place to invite you in. We were upgraded to the 4th floor. Entering the room was a lovely surprise of beautiful old world brick walls and wooden floor boards. The thick bluestone walls gave the ambience of luscious grandeur. We overlooked the quaint Street below with cobblestones. As beautiful as that was, there was a little street noise. The Kingsize bed was lovely and comfortable- cloud :). (I personally didn't like the pillows). Also the bathroom was well stocked with lovely fragrant shampoo/conditioner and body location. We have never seen a shower with so many different variations of water directional sprays- awesome! The staff (Albert) were more than helpful and gave some great tips on city eating locations. We enjoyed a lovely meal at Taverne Gaspar next door. I don't think you would be disappointed if you chose this hotel to spend some time in whilst staying in Montreal. Such a central location too.

We stayed here for two nights (mid week early July). A party of three adults, we choose the one bed room suite. The master bedroom had a super comfy king bed and large jacuzzi, The living room is large & has a queen size pull out couch (which is also very comfortable), big screen TV's in living room and bedroom. The bathroom has a glassed in rain shower. The dining room has a big table with 6 chairs, and full kitchen. There is a kettle, toaster and Nespresso machine with more than enough pods for our two mornings. My only complaint was the AC was loud when it switched on. FYI - The windows do not open. Check in is at 97 du la Commune Street, and where you stay is right around the corner from there on St. Paul St & St. Gabriel. The lofts are above the fabulous Auberge Vieux Port Steak House. We ate there one night, and loved it so much we almost went back for a second evening, but we stumbled upon a rooftop restaurant at Hotel Nelligan (which I also recommend). We used the valet parking which was fast and efficient. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. There is also a rooftop restaurant/bar at 97 du la commune which boasts beautiful views of the port area, and spectacular sunsets. We couldn't have asked for a better location.

Traveling for business, the staff was very helpful, called ahead of my arrival to check if I needed anything, much appreciated.
The room I had was beautiful, stone wall, furnitures, everything felt authentic yet modern, very tastefully furnished.
I will definitely book again at the Auberge whether for business or leisure.

A beautiful hotel. Rooms are (very) up to date (we stayed in a double), spacious, quiet, and affordable (prices are reasonable - we paid les than 275.00 CA a night). Services was competent, and not obtrusive. We had breakfast once at Taverne Gaspar - their onsite restaurant. There aren't a wealth of choices in the neighborhood (more on that later). Lots of very good breakfast choices (my wife and I are basically Vegan, and it worked for us).
We lived in Montreal for many years, though we moved away about 15 years ago. I rarely visited the Old Port; now I remember why. The streets are very quaint, lots of beautiful (well preserved) buildings, and lots of only ok restaurants and not much else (some tourists shops, etc.). It is not an easy trek to get to where we were going (McGill), and we probably would have been better served by a hotel in a better (more accessible) location.
So overall, an excellent hotel somewhat undermined by its location.

I had to be in montréal for 2 weeks, with a mix of obligations and leisure.
I mad a choice to be in the old town as it has been revitalized in the last years. I made a right choice in terms of location : quiet for sleeping but bustling with activity during the day and aplenty of restaurants around : super high quality food there and super variety.

The loft I was allocated, part of the hotel was in a street full of character, with its independent entrance.
The place was bright and very roomy, with a massive bathroom and lavish bathtub. The products in there were 5 star hotel kind.

The amenities (desk, coffee table, kitchen were all convenient, functionnal including a dishwasher

Bed was soooo confortable and there was lots of cupboards to tidy my stuff for a rather long stay.

Last but not least the staff was so noce fro chek in to chek out, including the porters and housekeepers!

Big up to the team for doing an outsanding job

Beautiful hotel! I loved our room with casement windows that opened inward. Spacious, and well appointed. Desk, small table and chairs, fridge, robes and slippers. Comfortable bed with lots of pillows and big plush towels. The lobby smelled divine, and when I asked, was told it was the same scent as that of the toiletries in the room. This is the only hotel we have been to in the last 3 years that had full maid service every day, and we don’t stay at inexpensive hotels. Walk to the old port was right across the street. Valet parking is 38$c a day, but worth it to avoid the hassle. We had a riverfront view, and while it wasn’t perfect, one of the quays is a parking garage which spoiled the view a bit, it was still lovely, especially in the evening when you could look out at the La Grande Roue and watch it change color. This place was the best part of our Montreal stay.
