We were warned from this site about the noise level in some rooms, so we made sure to request a quiet room. We had a medium room on the second floor, facing back alley and it was quiet and peaceful, although some noise from people in the hallway or closing doors. But this is a small hotel with limited space,...

Old Montreal is well known for its cobblestone streets, horse drawn carriages and beautiful buildings some dating back to the 17th century - but over the past few years it has also been the location for the transformation of some of these beautiful old buildings into some of the most charming boutique hotels in the world. My wife and i...

We stayed for 3 nights the end of September. The staff were incredibly hospitable, helpful, friendly, efficient. They will go to any length to make sure your stay is 5 star (make that 10 star) experience. Breakfast was more than your basic continental breakfast, including fresh fruit, cereals, wonderful, incredible breads and muffins plus cappucino or espresso if you so...

I absolutely love this type of upscale small boutique hotel when I am traveling. The beautiful architecture, the modern finishings with the original stone and lintles showing. Just way cool. The hotel is positioned fabulously with everything within walking distance with is great for someone without a car. If you do bring a car as a friend did they offer...

Stayed for two nights in early September. Perfect location for visiting the old city. We were within a 5 minute walk of a dozen or more excellent restaurants and cafes. King room was clean and very comfortable with a great shower. Staff was extremely friendly with good suggestions for off the beaten path activities as well as the standard tourist...

We loved the staff, cleanliness, location, breakfast and comfortable accommodations. A boutique hotel, with upscale decor, but well suited to the historical building. Everyone did their utmost to make our stay perfect. Before we arrived they even sent us an email advising of possible maintenance to their elevator and offering to help find an alternative hotel. How considerate! Now that...

We spent 3 nights at this small hotel and it exceeded our expectations. The location worked well for us and we walked or rode the Metro everywhere we went. The rooms are just great - size and layout are good and the brick/stone walls really added charm. The beds were comfortable and the large modern shower with multiple body jets...

All the positive points mentioned by other reviewers are correct. This hotel is cosy, clean, and welcoming. Each staff member is efficient and pleasant - I met Marcus first and he set a great tone, Matthew was helpful, and Alex couldn`t do enough for me. Well done! That was much appreciated. Where the hotel missed the mark for me was...

I love everything about this hotel from the decor, to the service to the european style breakfast. I recommend this hotel to all of my friends & family. The hotel is located in the heart of Old Montreal on the trendiest street with many of Montreals best restaurants and bars in the surrounding area. I recommend Méchand Boeuf for dinner.

High style decor in an ancient stone building. So well done! Hotel tucked into a small street in old Montreal. Very friendly, helpful staff. Cool bar. Excellent cappuccinos. Nice French breakfast in lower level.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
