At an affordable price, the rooms were comfy, the showers hot and powerful, lots of storage space, cooking facilities, WIFI and TV room, mostly helpful staff. So very homey. Suitable for long or short stay. Don't be fooled by the building and the entrance. This book is so much more than it's cover!

Dear guest, Thanks so much for sharing your positive opinion of Auberge L'Apero :) We are like like a little home indeed, smaller hostels are more intimate and calm. Hope to see you again,

It's the cheapest hostel in town and it has more than some other places. A locker for everyone with enough space for big bags, free breakfast every morning and you can cook your own meal very easily. It's also downtown Montreal so you have everything close. The wifi is free here and you also can plug your european devices. If...

This hostel has a lot of qualities: clean, goood kitchen, breakfast included, good location, good deal, space for your stuff, efficient wifi and computer. Unfortunately the beds are of the most uncomfortable kind for me, much much too hard, the hardest that exist, and I think hostels are more and more buying those mattresses because they last more. That may...

Dear guest, Thanks for noticing our qualities even if you had issues with our hostel :) In regards to out mattresses, they are indeed the firm type for support reasons. I myself can sleep on them fine but I understand that this may not appeal to all. We do offer a pillowtop when guests require; this could be an option...

great hostel for the price! was a bit confused as to how to get in at first, since it shares its entrance with a chinese restaurant, but this just added to the charm and character of the place:) the rooms and bathrooms were very clean and the kitchen had a few breakfast options and great tea. since we were visiting...

I got to stay there for 3 nights and I'm really glad I chose Auberge L'Apero. Rooms and Bathrooms are very clean, the kitchen and the common areas as well. I got a really nice sleep and can only recommend the place. Continental Breakfast (cereals, toast, coffee and tea included). Paul and his team made my stay a joy! Will...

Although this hostel is small, it is the cleanest hostel I ever visited in my travels. The bathrooms are clean, so are the rooms. The floor is so clean that i walked around bare-footed and sat on it without bothering to clean it. The management is ever mindful that the facilities are clean. I like the free breakfast, consisting of...

I stayed there for one night before my conference had started, and I had a long travel from Warsaw, so I had a terrible jet lag and I wanted just to sleep, that's all. Appeared that this hostel has horrible acoustics and some club downstairs so I woke up many times and had felt irritated and tired in the morning....

Dear Guest, We are truly sorry we were not able to meet your expectations; we will take your comments into consideration in order to improve our hostel. We wanted to take the opportunity to let you know that we are not located near a club; rather, after doing some research, have found that the noise came from guests playing loud...

I have stayed in better places, but also worse. But this hostel has a great downtown location. The rooms were clean, however there were plumbing problems while I was there, and they were trying to fix them while I was in the shower. Beds were comfortable and the heating was adequate during a particularly cold spell. I would stay here...

Worst hostel we stayed at in a 3 month trip across Canada and Europe. Tiny rooms, tiny kitchen with only 1 fridge which is disgusting and appears to never be cleaned out. Included in the free food section during our stay was some rotting mince and lettuce, and various condiments that expired 5 months prior to our arrival. Rarely any...

I stayed in this hostel because I wanted a quiet and affordable hostel in Montreal. Auberge is advertised as clean, calm, and relaxing. In fact, it was incredibly cramped (and I have stayed in hostels before) and very loud. Bedding was a bit dirty and there was hair on my pillow, too.

Thank M G

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.

Welcome to Auberge Apéro, a European-style hostel in North America’s most European city, Montréal. Apéro is the French word for aperitif – the beginning of a great meal or in this case – a great vacation. With only 12 beds, we offer a cozy, personalized atmosphere on two floors of an old 1880s graystone with all the amenities you expect from a hostel, and many that you don’t. The rooms are bright with hardwood floors and some interior brick walls that add an air of coziness to the Auberge. The second floor contains the reception area, the store, common rooms, and the laundry. ... more   less

“Rooms must be clean, with no cockroaches or rats. Sometimes you've to experience it for yourself because I found that even with Trip Advisor's approval in one of the hostels close to Berri Uquam there were rats running around every morning. I complained, but no action was taken. I stayed for more than 3 weeks in Auberg L'Apero and found it very satisfactory.”
