The front desk officers are very impatient on the phone, they drop the phone on you abruptly, not friendly at all, and use rude comments like: what else do you want? The other house keeping staff are occasionally rude too. Sort of, I found most of their comments to be disrespectful. No one offers you options, or care about your comfort, Its all about their job, and giving you the rules. The rods in the bathtub are rusty, I found insects in my bathtub on check in. The dresser drawers were not clean, with dirt in them. In general, the house-keeping was not thorough. My bed was not made, but covered up with nice sheets.
This was rough. I had a room near the entrance to the rooms. 1. cleanliness was not the best. hair left in the tub, sheets were questionable, lack of attention to details. 2. no outlets near the bed as i was on a business trip and would have enjoyed to work from my bed. 3. smelled old 4. I thought i would get some sunshine and lo and behold when i opened the curtains i found that my windows led into the dining hall. Quite amusing actually and closed them really quick. It was also in the middle of nowhere but i only needed the room for one night. If you are looking to get in and out then its ok.
By no means take room 124.. your view out the window is a door to outside so window has to be closed the whole time. Lamp shades are super dirty and gross. Blankets on the bed are super thin. NEVER AGAIN!
Overall the hotel room and building is in decent shape. The stay was comfortable with a king size bed and most things you would expect from a hotel room, tiled bathroom and the refrigerator and microwave were a nice touch. The breakfast was pretty good and filling and was a nice to have for our stay. The only complaint I have is that on the last day there was a group of women and men fighting right outside of our hotel room door. First the group of women at around 7AM and then the group of men at 8AM... It sounded like they were arguing about a cheating scandal and then then the men were arguing about defending each others' brothers? , but it was very unprofessional that it was even allowed to continue for over 10 minutes especially since it was so close to the front lobby as well. Since they woke us up I had asked for a late checkout, which the hotel granted but still they called a few times to see if we were checking out before noon. That being said, the immediate return of our security deposit upon checkout was very much appreciated, as I would've likely become extremely disappointed if it were not returned to us immediately. Dear Woodbine Hotel and Suites: Please invest some money in having at least 1-2 security personelle patrolling your premises at least from 11PM - 9AM. It will not cost very much money for you, your guests will feel more comfortable staying here again, and you will be able to charge more for your hotel rooms. I would've considered staying at your hotel again on my next visit to Toronto, but after the fact that the incident on the last morning even happened I will opt to stay at a more secure hotel in the future and will likely advise my friends staying there the same, unless I see some action taken on your behalf to secure your premises so that incidents like this are prevented from happening. Thanks.…
I booked through Hotwire.com and got a great rate for this 2 1/2 star hotel. Upon my arrival I was surprised to hear of additional hotel shuttle charges, $40 airport return. The hotel blamed Hotwire and Hotwire blamed the hotel and the consumer pays for lack of information provided. The front desk agent felt bad for not informing me during our 2 phone calls when I inquired about the shuttle service, so he only charged me $20. When I called I asked about times and pickup location, I didn’t think to ask if there was a charge. Be prepared, the rooms look decent however feel filthy with mold around the tub, splatters, smudges and fingerprints on most surfaces, walls and doors.
