Absolutely amazing hostel, clean and shiny, nicely organized with bathroom in the room. Very cozy common areas and rooftop patio is truly a gem! Very cool location as well in vicinity of UofT campus with lots of activities around and easy access to anywhere in the city with public transportation.

Ben, I believe his name was. He manages events with the Hostel. He got drunk and tried to fight me. I'm 18, he's in his mid-late 20s. When I disengaged his threat he walked around and talked trash about me to everyone he could find. I doubt anything will happen to him since hostels are usually fairly close-knit and his...

I am sorry you had an uncomfortable interaction. Ben is not a staff member. He was a guest. I asked him about your review. Apparently you asked him to buy alcohol for you but he decided against it after you were not willing to pay the price of your purchase in advance. It is extremely important to me that the...

Friendly staff, clean rooms, good breakfast, free wifi and a rooftop view of Toronto. What's there to be negative about!? Just DONT book through hostels.com (saying rooms are available when there isn't!- heard other visitors saying the same!) book direct ;)

Really great hostel with things going on almost every night. The bedrooms are a little small but comfortable. The kitchen is huge and well equipped and there is loads of free stuff which is great for travellers on a budget like we were! My friends and I had a disappointing experience with one member of staff who was a little...

This is a great hostel. Seriously. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Toronto; in fact, I told my local friends that they should pass along my recommendation if they ever have friends visiting. Writing this review is a head vs. heart battle, as there were a few bumps in the road that kept me from giving...

This is the best hostel in Toronto! Very clean and modern; the shared bathroom of The private rooms is always clean; the kitchen is well equipped; everything seems always safe; the staff is very helpful and friendly. My favourite part is the rooftop with the amazing view, perfect to have some drinks and relax! I highly recommend Planet Traveler!

Totally recommend this hostel. Located in walking distance of many attractions, with friendly staff and clean rooms. And the rooftop bar with the magnificent skyline makes you want to stay there forever!

This is a great hostel, well managed by people from all over the globe. The area is one of my favourites in Toronto, Kensington Market is a hipster paradise with vintage shops and great food on your doorstep. One of the nicest backpackers hostel I've ever stayed in, very clean and the rooms are air conditioned!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
