We stopped in at the Drake for brunch, they have the most delicious mango mimosa's....OMG ! We had great service, the egg's beni was huge and fantastic. I hadn't been there in awhile, but when you go back to a place, even after not being there for years and the food/experience/atmosphere is still as good, if not better.....you tell people...The...

I recently stayed five nights in a crash room at the Drake Hotel which is located in the art district of Toronto. It is a restored boutique style hotel that boasts personality, charm, and a relaxed hip vibe. There are many hotel choices in Toronto and if you want to stay in a place where hospitality and personal attention is...

The Drake is very "hip" and could have been tricky for a nearly 70 year old couple. But we were looked after with warmth and care (especially by Alan and Jonathan) and never made to feel out of place. We spent 2 days in Toronto, parking our car in the public lot over the road, the front desk staff topping...

The Drake is different, and thank goodness for that. If you are tired of waking up in hotel rooms and not being able to tell what city you are in, then you are ready for the Drake. The rooms are quirky, the scene is uber-hip, and the service is great. The Drake is located in ultra-trendy Queen West. It is...

A very warm establishment, headed up by head manager Jonathan. Received a lovely upgrade from a very attentive - and friendly - manager. Rooms are cozy, clean, quiet, and funky. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay!!

Yes, the Drake is cool, sexy, INTERESTING, lively, comfortable as my favorite jeans. For a small hotel they do so much: a minimalist designer room (small but great), outdoor cafe where we take many meals, indoor upscale restaurant, Sky Bar lounge on the rooftop where the hip mingle, the Underground featuring music, dance, even musical theater (Hedwig and the Angry...

The most incredible experience ever!! This place completely blew our minds! The awesomeness of such an chic boutique hotel is topped off by the outstanding crew that work there, starting with the Drakes manager Jonathan. We have never experience such attention to detail, hospitality, genuine friendliness and willing to go beyond from such a man, and we have travelled the...

Stayed here for one night after seeing a concert in the city. The location is great, easily accessible by public transit (the streetcar stops right at the door!), and close enough to the downtown core but just far enough that it has its own atmosphere. I wanted to try something different from the Delta or Sheraton-type accommodations, and The Drake...

Friends planned a weekend getaway (2 days in Toronto and 2 days Niagara on the Lake). We started the first leg of the journey at Drake hotel. The Drake is nestled in the Queens West area up and coming area which may have already arrived. (For Chicagoans think Wicker Park/Bucktown weds Logan and Boystown all in one.) The people watching...

I didn't really know anything about the Drake until I needed to attend a client's opening nearby. I was pleasantly impressed by the relaxed vibe of the place, and nice mix of arty and, industrial-luxe decor with thoughtful amenities. The staff were great, the rooms fun and interesting (and squeaky clean). Overall, I think the Drake is a great place...

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
