We traveled in from Seattle and Denver for my bachelorette party in Toronto. I was determined to stay at The Drake because I had great memories from staying here nearly 10 years ago. I was pleased to learn that they had expanded and renovated since my last visit and we stayed in the new wing of the hotel. The lobby was beautifully decorated with a sexy lounge space, area where you can jam on your laptop, and chic bar. The front desk staff were all incredibly welcoming, helpful and kind. We loved the funky room decor, comfortable beds, luxury bath products, and Drake branded sweatshirt robes. HUGE fans of the long sweatshirt robes. The hotel is located within walking distance of several hip restaurants and bars, including the ones on property. We enjoyed a live show at Underground and lovely breakfast at the cafe. We also had drinks at Sky Yard and the restaurant, as well as danced the night away to their awesome house DJ. An overall fantastic hotel stay and epic weekend!!!…
I stayed at the Drake for a bachelorette (visiting from Seattle), and I must say this is one of the trendiest/sexiest hotels I've stayed at. The decor from the moment you walk in is so fresh and funky, giving Instagram model vibes. Outside of just being "cool", the staff was so extremely friendly and helpful, making sure we were well taken care of and giving great recommendations. While other reviews do mention a "party hotel", the party hosted was very fun but also when it was time to go to bed we couldn't hear anything from our room. This being my first visit to Toronto, the location was also superb, close to all sorts of shopping/dining/nightlife. I can't wait to come back!
You must reserve parking in advance, as they do not have adequate space. We parked a block away and it was about the same price. Everyone was so accommodating adn friendly, the bar and restaurant are patronized by regulars and locals, in addition to hotel guests and the food was really good. The area is still in development, but there are lots of great spots to dine within walking distance. Most things you'd want to visit as a tourist are not walkable and driving there is a nightmare. Parking gets pricey too, nowhere is it free,
Loved few things in the hotel: The design, it’s all nicely decorated, great style. The room has a very comfortable bed and great bathroom. Breakfast is delicious, waitress was lovely Location is the coolest in Toronto, all the favorite restaurants, cafes, delis, stores etc are around. Could have been a perfect experience if the sound level in the rooms was not that insane! There is loud music playing in the hotel patio restaurant until 2:30pm. Impossible to sleep before, it feels like the party is happening in your room. If you are a party person this hotel is for you. But if you want a good night of sleep, run away it’s impossible to close your eyes until the music stop. Ear plugs will not help. So when we left the hotel after 2 nights we were over exhausted with the lack of sleep. And the rooms are not cheap at all. This is a club with some rooms, not a hotel. So if you are looking for a quiet room this is not the place. Just go for the brunch but not to sleep.…
The staff at The Drake Hotel were absolutely wonderful to us, from the receptionist at the front desk, to the wait staff and managers. They could not have been more accomodating to me and my mother. The rooms were designed very well, and the bed was great. The food was excellent as well. Overall, The Drake Hotel was a very memorable experience!
Just finished my stay at the Drake and it is easily in the top hotels I’ve stayed at. The service, decor, and amenities are all 5 star. Upon arrival Natalie at the front desk gave us a warm welcome and was so pleasant and helpful in getting us situated at the hotel. Our room was beautifully decorated (the entire hotel is tasteful and gorgeous) and extremely clean. The bathroom had all of the amenities needed and the provided products are well curated. If you’re a remote worker like I am this is easily the best and most accommodating hotel I’ve experienced. Hot delicious coffee was waiting in the lobby each morning and we ordered breakfast that was directly delivered to the lounge where we were working. The food was also spectacular. For dinner, the restaurant on property is also a must. Delicious food, great cocktails, and good tunes. The hotel is also perfectly situated on the west side and the neighborhood is extremely walkable. Great shopping and restaurants are all right outside the door. Will always be staying at the Drake when visiting Toronto.…
First time in the new wing and it certainly lived up to all expectations. Bayley took great care of us at check-in and it was wonderful to experience the new lobby bar. Underground was a great time with ITZSOWEEZEE. Nice to see it in full swing again. Toronto staple.
The Drake staff are the type of people you want to get a beer with. From the start they were delightful to deal with, kind, authentic, funny and honestly I could’ve parked up at the hotel bar for hours chatting with them. I spent most of my time dealing with Tony. If you get the privilege of meeting him you are a lucky chap. The decor is awesome, the food and drinks spectacular, and I can’t wait to come back and shout Tony a drink.
Drake has its classic Toronto and then modern feel. The indoor lounge facing Queen Street has some tables that are more accessible beside the Science art bookshelf; you can book seating there, but not currently for the popular Sky Yard patio (on the second floor North side) of the hotel. Its small cafe is in the older section; for coffee-lovers, it’s the most accessible—on the ground floor facing Beaconsfield across from Curry’s. The bar and music is the attraction at Drake: not so much the brunch or brownies served until dinner reservations from 4:00. For all day breakfast: if you don’t want fried chicken waffles, muesli, salmon bagels or scones, burgers (veggie or salty beef patties) come with a side of leafy salad or crispy fries. “Sizzling” sweet potato kale hash has a half-fried egg, and you could omit or ask for the chorizo on the side. Young adults love the cool vibes that draw a crowd at night, if you don’t mind gender-diverse washrooms in the basement. Look for the photo booth beside the stairs, which was not in order yet when we visited. Parking is across the street—near CAMH pay-by-visa South on Abell St.—so plan or give yourself extra time. A vaccine mandate is also in place, so show a QR code to the friendly bouncer. If you forgot it at home, there’s always quiet Piquette’s patio nearby!…
As we were crossing the street with our bags, a staff member helped us with the door and our experience of excellence in customer service began. The hotel is gorgeous. There is something to look at wherever you are. We really appreciated the lounge area for guests of the hotel. The lobby bar with Michael at the helm was a delight. We had two dinners and a breakfast at the hotel and the food was cooked to perfection. A shout out to Chelsea, Tony and Michael! Thank you Drake Hotel. We will be back!
