Yes, it is a pricey hotel but, if you want a memorable experience for a special occasion, this is the place to be. Extremely nice and helpful staff; beautiful rooms, amenities, design and art work everywhere.

From the moment we arrived at Shangri-La Toronto Hotel, the level of hospitality was outstanding. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the staff, including Dean Voon, went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our celebration was perfect. The room was not only luxurious but also adorned with thoughtful touches that added a personal touch to our stay. The stunning views from our room enhanced the overall experience, creating a romantic ambiance. The dining experience at the hotel exceeded our expectations. The restaurant offered a delectable array of dishes, and the service was impeccable. It was evident that the culinary team paid careful attention to quality and presentation. The amenities, from the spa to the fitness center, were top-notch, providing us with relaxation and recreation options during our stay. The hotel's central location also made it convenient for us to explore the city. Overall, Shangri-La Toronto Hotel provided us with an unforgettable anniversary experience. I am grateful for the exceptional service, and I would undoubtedly choose this hotel for future special occasions.

Well we decided to try this hotel again because of the great massage we got when we first visited and really wanted to stay the night, so we showed up early and the hotel allowed us to upgrade our room and got us in early for a very small upgrade fee. The hotel was incredibly accommodating and made sure we were happy with the upgrade. We mentioned that we were just planning on having a soak and to our surprise, they sent up 2 bath balms that made the experience that much nicer- thank you to the great staff and two thumbs up to a quality hotel.

Service standard was noticeably MUCH more inconsistent compared to the last few times we have stayed at the hotel and the coup de gras was being personally escorted by the concierge quite literally back to our room, where she waited at the door to our room (instead of presumably helping other guests) while we collected our bags, to apparently ensure we did not miss our checkout time by more than 15 minutes, or perhaps we were also flagged for a potential bath robe theft risk, I'm not sure, but that was a classy ending to a very expensive 24 hours. Some staff members were outstanding and friendly - 10/10. Others seemed to fall more into the "I'm really too good to be working at a hotel" or "I am easily annoyed by paying customers who ask for things" categories, or maybe they think "Aloof" is tres chic these days. In my view, the mix of hot and cold just doesn't work and eventually, the Eeyore's on staff will start to drag down the Tigger's. They seem to be missing an important interview question when recruiting: do you really, REALLY enjoy working with the public and delivering a delightful experience? I mean, like - this is what you want to do all day, every day, is to provide world class service with a perma-smile, even when you don't feel like it, because that's the job. If I wanted attitude, I could go walk around Holt Renfrew for free. That commitment to pathologically over the top service is not for everybody, and clearly not for everyone at Shangri-La. It's also not easy, but if you want 700-1000+ per night, it's just the bare minimum standard, especially at an aging property. The 5 or 6 star experience, or whatever it is supposed to be, is 90% about the experience and especially the service, not the chandeliers or Koi pond, and eventually every beautiful hotel gets old (and as noted the Shangri La is also noticeably aging), so it's even more all about the service. Everyone has velvet couches and $12 bottles of Evian, elevated sliders, etc. I don't know if it's policy now to frog march guests back to their room and supervise them to ensure they check out on time (as opposed to the more standard practice of letting them return to their room on their own and leave like valued guests), or this was a spontaneous choice by staff (pretty sure it was a 'management' decision), but I would just say this - no matter how great a hotel, or how great its reputation, you can only do silly stuff like that so many times before the shine starts to come off the whole enterprise and the brand is damaged. Overall, it was just ok, but there's lots of places to go in Toronto which are just ok, at half the price, and where they would never dream of the whole escorting you out at checkout time indignity. Lastly, this is a minor thing, because we used to have small kids, so it's not like we have never been those people with the noisy kids, but the pool area was chock full of noisy kids and toddlers wearing swim diapers (and what's the fun in swimming as a kid if you can't be noisy?), but it isn't relaxing for the the adult crowd if you just want to chill in relative silence for a few hours. Maybe have designated hours for families with younger children - that might be a good compromise. In summary, I wouldn't rush back or recommend Shanri-La to a friend - not this time. It's human nature to give positive reviews about things we have spent a lot of money on. OMG - it WAS AMAZING!!!!! Shangri-La wasn't amazing, but I really wish it had been.

We absolutely love the Shangri-La in Toronto. It is by far our favourite hotel in the city. The rooms are beautiful, the beds. are heavenly and the staff are incredibly helpful. Our favourite part of the hotel is the lobby bar. The ambiance, people watching, cocktails and live music make for a perfect before and after dinner location. Thank you to the manager, Kari, for always looking after us! We will absolutely be back.

Best hotel I have ever stayed at. I thought every hotel was the same, until I stayed at the Shangri La....now I know there is a higher level of service, the rooms are sound proof, service incredible, lobby bar a perfect place to enjoy. Staff remember even small preferences and makes sure you feel special during you stay.

The Shangri-La Toronto is always a fantastic stay with exceptional customer service as well as small touches that make a big difference during your stay such as bottled water (in sustainable packaging) on the bedside table (replaced daily) and many complimentary toiletry items that are often forgotten during travel such as razor and shave cream, comb, or makeup remover pads among many others. The rooms are always pristine and clean. The employees take pride in their work and although always available for anything you need they are also always invisibly ensuring all rooms are always fully stocked and tidied to ensure the utmost quality experience during your stay. I always stay here for my business travel and have always had a very pleasant stay.

I chose to go with Amex Platinum reservations. Service, from drive up, check in, check out, was seamless and stress free. Friendly and accommodating staff all around. The concierge, Dean, was extremely helpful, cheerful and polite. The suite, which I upgraded to with a small additional charge, was executive style, rather than super luxurious, but certainly fine. There is one restaurant, though they do serve food in the lobby, which has a lovely fireplace and is quite active and busy. Live music was provided by a pianist in the afternoon, and a good singer/pianist in the evening. The light bites there were good. Room service was also fine for dinner, though in the morning the breakfast was a bit cold when delivered. 1st class sports massage by Edna in the spa. I would return. The service at this hotel really made this experience a world class one.

My family and I had a wonderful stay in Toronto. The staff is the friendliest from the moment we arrived tired from a long trip from Europe. The beds are wonderful, we had the best recovery sleep for jet lag. And the pillows are the fluffiest I’ve ever felt.
