The Shangri-La Toronto garners praise for its vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music and modern elegance, creating a luxurious vibe that guests adore. Cleanliness is a standout, with travelers consistently satisfied by the spotless rooms. While the service is generally recognized for its excellence, some guests have noted occasional lapses.
The hotel's location earns high marks for its convenience to downtown attractions. Luxurious amenities, including the pool and sauna, contribute to the hotel's allure, although some guests find the value proposition mixed due to high breakfast costs and additional fees. Despite the praise for spacious rooms, a few guests mention maintenance and soundproofing issues.

This was my first time staying at a Shangri-La hotel. I stayed at the Shangri-La Toronto for 3 nights, everything was immaculate from the moment of check-in to check-out. A front desk staff thoroughly explained my Amex benefits package which I booked my stay with. As my room was not quite ready, I took a walk to the near by Berczy Park, to visit the dog (and one cat!) fountain. I soon received a call that my room was ready and I received a complimentary room upgrade!
My luggage was waiting for me in my room. Now came the fun part, to explore the room! The bathroom was massive and had everything I needed in terms of spare toiletries. There was a walk and shower and a deep relaxing tub. The carpet was so soft and luxurious. Was great to walk on after a long day of walking and exploring the city! The King bed was very comfortable and there was ample seating in the room along with a desk. The floor to ceiling windows allowed a great view of the street below and area buildings.
The room was very clean and quiet. I had a great nights sleep each night and woke up feeling rejuvenated. The front desk, restaurant staff, valet, and housekeeping were all extremely friendly and helpful! It was a nice touch that the housekeeping woman knew my name when she knocked and asked if I would like turn down service.
I also scheduled a tour to Niagara Falls with a company recommended by the hotel. The font desk and valet were very helpful in contacting the tour group to confirm pickup, and let me know when the tour driver arrived.
The hotel had a great location, close to the Billy Bishop (free) airport shuttle, Royal Alexandrea Theater, CN Tower, and Nathan Phillips Square (Toronto sign) just to name a few.
If I am ever in Toronto again, I will definitely return to this hotel. I've been raving about it to my friends and family since I got home! I'm "Shanri-La obsessed" now and will hopefully get to explore other Shangri-La locations around the world!

One of the best Shangri-La hotels. Exceptional staff, service, amenities, and location: only a short 5 to 10 minutes walk to and from the station for airport express train. Great cocktails in the lobby lounge. But, as in almost all the other Shangri-La hotels that we have stayed, quality of breakfast is substandard. This I find perplexing that a hotel chain can be so successful in providing an excellent hotel experience but continue to serve breakfast that are below par even for a fast food diner.

I have been there before for a conference and glad to be back. It is in the center of downtown Toronto, very convenient location. Mostly everything is typical "Shangri-La hospitality", and on a smaller side (I mean physically), including the pool, lobby, and meal portion. Speaking of that, the most memorable was the experience in its Bosk restaurant, exemplified by its creme brulee, which was the size of a Canadian looni, possibly smaller. It was a joke. I should have ordered 10 if I knew it was so small. Same thing can be said about all other appetizers and dessert my party ordered. There was no issue with service and overall, no major complaint, and certainly will go back.

We stayed at the Shangri - La Toronto with our toddler son, and had an amazing experience!
When we arrived at the hotel the valet was prompt and efficient and was able to help us with the car and our bags swiftly. The check in process was just as quick and easy. The concierge provided us with all the necessary information we would need about the hotel amenities, including child care services. We felt thoroughly informed and did not have to wait to be taken to our room. We really appreciated the time Dean took to explain everything about to hotel and downtown Toronto. He really made sure we had everything we needed for our staycation.
Once we arrived to our room, it was clean, spacious, and modern. The room included everything we would need - a crib, coffee and tea, mini fridge, etc. Turn down service was also provided at the end of the night and the room looked spotless once we returned that night after dinner. The view of the room was amazing with a lot of natural sunlight in the room.
The hotel was very accommodating and ensured we had everything we needed to stay at the hotel with a child. The overall ambience of the hotel is very inviting, comfortable, and luxurious. One of the best hotels we have stayed at in Toronto.
The lounge area is a very nice spot to hang out, enjoy a drink by the fire place, while listening to the live music provided. We also stopped by the pool, sauna and hot tub in the hotel and everything exceeded our expectations. It was just so relaxing to be able to hang out in your personal cabana and watch the World Cup soccer games.
Overall, we will definitely be returning to the hotel. It was one of the best experiences we have had. The staff at Shangri - La went above and beyond for us, especially Dean Voon who assisted us throughout our stay. Thank you!

My husband and I just checked out of the Shangri-La Toronto. The service was impeccable. We had such an amazing time for our 10yr anniversary. Would highly recommend for those who are nervous about traveling due to COVID or those who have been underwhelmed by service in the city as hotels and restaurants reopen. This hotels amenity availability and service makes up for the fact that we didn’t go away to celebrate. We visited the Lobby lounge during our stay and had amazing oysters and bubbles while listening to the lobby band. We also took advantage of the Pool and sauna and were so pleased with the cleanliness and friendly helpful staff. The turn down service was A+ and we even had bubbles for the bath delivered to our room followed by a speaker when my husband mentioned he couldn’t find the radio. Talk about going above and beyond. We will definitely be back!!

Superior accommodations and service experienced at Toronto’s Shangri-La hotel. From the moment we walked into the hotel we were welcomed with efficiency and warmth at check in. The suite we stayed in was aesthetically beautiful with a spa like bathroom and luxurious tub overlooking an astounding view of Toronto’s city. Room service was prompt with the attention to details making the experience refined. Hotel located in the heart of the city with a short walk to trendy shopping districts and a multitude of restaurants, cafes and gelateries. All staff encountered throughout stay professional and accommodating eager to ensure our stay would leave a lasting mark. It most certainly did…we are sure to be back! Many thanks.

I absolutely love the Shangri-La. I have stayed twice last year and have an upcoming stay in a few days. The staff are extremely friendly and very welcoming. The concierge is amazing and applies great initiative with special requests such as anniversaries. I have always stayed in the premier room which has the most visually stunning bathroom I have ever seen- floor to ceiling glass everywhere. The rooms are exceptionally clean. The food is delicious as are the cocktails. I very much look forward to my upcoming stay in the deluxe bedroom suite!

Overall the hotel felt dated and service levels nowhere near what we are used to at other Shanghai-La properties.
Overall the ambience of the hotel seemed to be “on a budget” with dying fresh flowers and orchids at the lobby that should had been changed a while ago and lots of plastic (!?) plants and flowers through the hotel. This felt cheap and more like an IKEA store than a five star hotel. We have never seen plastic plants/flowers at a Four Seasons or Park Hyatt Hotel.
The room was dated but in overall good shape. Small touches like fresh flowers in the room (Deluxe Suite) could have elevated the experience and the room a lot, but unfortunately not a single plant/flower in the room.
Service in the breakfast restaurant was a mess despite almost no other guests. Took forever to be seated and to have our orders taken. Food quality seemed low and more what you could expect in an airport lounge. In two occasions we were served fresh strawberries that had definitely been cut a few days earlier. The food also tasted very processed and options were limited and not of high quality. Finally we had booked a rate with full breakfast included but apparently that wasn’t the case as we were informed at checkout that we only had a credit of 112 CAD to cover breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids (age 2 and 3). Absolutely ridiculous and not acceptable. We reached an agreement on checkout with the hotel compensation us by deducting an additional 100 CAD from our total bill.
Housekeeping was also hit a miss. The first night no turndown service. The other nights we did get turndown service but it wasn’t coordinated with when we were out of the room for dinner. Also one day we return to the room at 3pm and no cleaning had been done despite we hadn’t been in the room from 9AM. Just not acceptable for a 5 star hotel.
Overall we appreciated the room despite the dated design and we thought the overall value for money for the stay was ok.
Will we return? Most likely not.

We checked in to celebrate at long last, our engagement as well as our anniversary, which we had not been able to do because of the pandemic. We told the reservations team this was a very special night and still upon arrival, we were checked into what seemed like the smallest room in the hotel. I called and asked if there were any upgrades available and at first was told no, but to wait and see. We waited maybe 30—45 minutes and received a call that they had found a room for us. It was another room, slightly larger, but still not a suite. In all the years we’ve stayed in hotels for our anniversary, we’ve always received a suite complimentary, so it was unusual to be receive such a room from the renowned hotel. But alas, we were willing to pay for the upgrade if it were available, however were informed the hotel was full. My fiancé was quite outraged by this point as we had our engagement shoot planned later in the afternoon as well and hadn’t had lunch. He started searching for other hotels, but instead found that this hotel in which we were standing, had a ONE BEDROOM SUITE available for tonight! Why had they not told us? I told them we would pay the difference, but no, it was simply not available. Well, we booked it and somehow it was made available. Why had they not wanted to give us the room? It will forever be a mystery. So we went down to check in and waited another seemingly endless 45 minutes to be given the keys and no explanation as to why the room suddenly became available.
By 5pm , two hours after check in, we had a suite! But that was only the beginning of our saga.
They must have only one staff working when you call because it always took 30 + rings to reach anyone for any reason, and it was always the same poor girl who answered. It could be Room Service, Housekeeping, etc., it was always several minutes of rings, and the same person who answered. We wanted our lunch/supper finally and waited an hour for it to arrive. We needed ice and couldn't reach anyone and when we did, it never showed up, even upon following up. We wanted to order food later at night (not before midnight) but no one picked up then either.
The next morning, we called to order breakfast because the iPad wasn't working (no it wasn't past 11am yet, which is when they are set to change over menus). Again, maybe 30-40 rings before reaching someone, who took our order, and then waited 1.5 hours for our food to show up. Asked for a late checkout and the first call it was not granted, even though we were still waiting on our breakfast. My fiancé called and got a different person who apologized for the delay and granted the late checkout, which is actually part of my package but, as always, is “subject to availability”.
We did receive two glasses of champagne, but after all this trouble, I really don’t think that cuts it. I never thought I’d say this, but I never want to go back.

My wife & I stayed here over the weekend to celebrate our 4-year wedding anniversary & had a wonderful time. We were greeted by the valet when we arrived & they promptly assisted us with our luggage and parked our vehicle. We utilized mobile check-in so we only spent a couple of minutes at the front desk before we got into our room. We booked a premier view, king room and it was beautiful! The view from the entire room was great, but the view from the deep soaking tub stole the show. Soaking in that at night while overlooking University Avenue was divine. In the evening, they had a pianist playing in the lobby & the atmosphere was very warm & inviting. The pool & gym were clean & modern & the service was excellent. We utilize room service for breakfast & it did not disappoint. True 5-star experience. There is a lot of attention to detail here, and it shows. We’d definitely return!

They don't advertise as such; however, I'm hypersensitive and allergic myself, and found everything satisfactory. Towels and linens
were gently (hardly detectably) fragranced. No artificial air fresheners in the room . The bath soap and shampoo were fragranced , so bring your own.
Delicious breakfast either in the horizon lounge or lobby.
Underground parking is not included for hotel guests. I believe it’s around $40 per day.
