Hadn't visited Toronto for over 20 years, lived there once upon a time. Used to view Toronto as cold and unfriendly. Pleasantly, completely changed my mind with this great global city. Best way to reintroduce myself to Toronto was through this hotel. Very warm and considerate owners--took their time out of busy day to give you a real sense of...

We have been staying at the Homewood Inn on our visits to Toronto for many years now and have always found it to be clean and friendly. This is NOT an expensive, fancy, pretentious luxury accommodation fit for snobs, but actually a very comfortable alternative and a real good value for the price. There is a great variety of rooms...

I have stayed at the Homewood Inn many times and have enjoyed my stay. THe security of the room is very good. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The bed was comfortable and the price reasonable. The breakfasts were so quaint. The staff was so friendly and even the other guests were nice to talk to . I will...

I have stayed at the Homewood many times and have never been disappointed. The location is ideal for those who want to be downtown. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The shared kitchen and bathrooms are well-maintained. Breakfasts are generous and served in a bright dining room. For me, I just park the car and walk or ride the transit...

I recently visited the lovely city of Toronto and stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called The Homewood Inn. The building was one of three that are very warm in charm, is clean, serves a wonderful breakfast, and has great ownership and staff. It is within walking distance of the center of town and all attractions. The Inn is owned...

In 1998, a friend/co-worker recommended Homewood Inn, and 11 years later I can say that I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Toronto. The inn is located on a residential street in downtown Toronto, near the gay village and easy access to public transportation to get where you want to go. Dolores, Eadie and their staff are extremely down-to-earth, friendly and...

STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!! Toronto is not to be judged by this horribly-run inn. It was soiled and dirty from the front step to the guest rooms to the breakfast area. Revolting. My room was never cleaned and the communal bathroom was gross. It is amazing to me that this place hasn't been shut down. The pictures are misleading....

the money was quite expensive and i do not really need such a large bag. the drawback is the commonly shared toilet. other than that, the room looks pretty fine. but i must see i don't really so many mirrors in my single room. it is pretty eerie for me unless i don't think about it. it is neutral but...

We were looking for a modest place with two rooms for several nights and thought the reviews on Trip Advisor sounded OK. We were very disappointed. Don't want to be too critical because the main house may be better, but we were down the street, the two rooms were separated by a shabby kitchen, dining room, and living room. Obviously...

My girlfriend and I loved this place! It was easy to find, It was only a 20 minute walk away from the bus terminal. We got there a little late in the night but our key was waiting for us, when we got through the front door we were amazed with the aura, the feeling was warming and comfortable, as...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
