I stayed three nights in the retreat room following three nights in one of the downtown hotels. A seaton dream was far more homely and incredibly quiet by comparison. Very comfortable. The hosts are lovely. Highly recommend

We stayed here for three nights in October. The room was well furnished, very comfortable and kept at a temperature appropriate for the time of year. Jamie was an excellent host and provided three different but equally delicious breakfasts. He also recommended a number of different local restaurants for evening meals. The location is within a 15-20 minute walk of...

We stayed there for three days and we would come back to this B&B when ever we come to Toronto. When we arrived, we felt very welcome, Jamie is really a great host. Everything was very clean and the room with the balcony was very comfortable and lovely furnished. The breakfast was excellent, very varied and tasty. Very recommandable.

Lovely room with a beautiful large balcony overlooking garden; Jamie is a great host and his breakfasts are imaginative, delicious and huge! It's next to Cabbeage Town, which is a lovely historic area with great restaurants. It's about 15 minutes on foot to the centre of town.

Booked into Seaton dream for three nights. We chose this place because it was close to where family in Toronto was living. We were very pleased with our stay. Jamie the owner/host was very friendly and looked after us very well. He accomodated our special dietary needs and looked after our concerns when we had to make changes to our...

I stayed with my wife in one room and my parents stayed in another room. We loved our stay. The owners are very nice people and helped us with nice tips. The breakfast is amazing, with different meals everyday, very well presented and very delicious. One day we had omelette, bread and fruits, another day benedict eggs and fruits, and...

My husband and I loved this beautiful B&B. Jamie and Allan were great hosts and over breakfast we had great conversations on a wide range of topics. Jamie provided a lot of information on things to do in Toronto, transport as well as Restaurants. Breakfasts were beautiful and I particularly very much liked the pancakes and Jamie's fantastic burrito omelette....

Very friendly hosts, a cosy and absolutely clean room, quiet, overlooking the backyard with a nice personal porch, great breakfast, interesting other guests, located in a wonderful street with nice little wooden houses! Downtown Toronto just a stroll away. And at nights, a taxi back to Seaton Street is only 10 Dollars. VERY RECOMMENDABLE!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

“The Retreat is a basement room--private and quiet, but ultimately, a basement. The West Wing is filled with sunlight in the afternoon, but sound carries up the stairs, making it potentially noisy if the B&B is full.”
