Ace Hotel Toronto lives in the heart of the Garment District, within an outstretched arm of many of the independent and legacy cultural institutions that comprise Toronto’s multicultural mosaic. The hotel is adjacent to Queen West, Chinatown, and the Downtown business core, blocks from famed music venues Horseshoe Tavern and Velvet Underground, from the Art Gallery of Ontario and TIFF Bell Lightbox — Toronto International Film Festival’s HQ, and from the Bentway, the city’s artistic, cultural, and recreational public space. Ace Hotel Toronto reflects the city’s past through a prismatic and future-facing vantage — preserving its layered legacies and adding texture with considered design and feeling. Intentionally crafted as a civic space, the hotel stands both in homage to and in dialogue with the neighborhood it inhabits.

Ace Hotel Toronto has garnered acclaim for its chic and trendy atmosphere, complete with stylish decor and unique amenities such as record players. Guests consistently commend the cleanliness of the hotel, from the well-kept rooms to the large bathtubs. While the rooms are celebrated for their comfort and style, a few guests have pointed out limitations in space and amenities. The hotel's location is a favorite among travelers, offering easy access to local attractions. Service is generally lauded for its friendliness and professionalism, though there is some room for improvement in attentiveness. The hotel's overall value is appreciated, but some guests feel it could be enhanced with additional personal touches and complimentary offerings. Amenities are well-received, notably for the comfortable beds and welcoming atmosphere, with minor suggestions for improvement in certain conveniences.

My family and I stayed at The Ace Hotel Toronto from January 24-28, and we had an amazing experience. The hotel has a modern and welcoming feel, and the location is perfect, right near Queen West, Chinatown, and lots of great shops, restaurants, and entertainment. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and well-designed, with blackout curtains, a walk-in shower, and soft bathrobes, making it a very nice place to stay that had us very relaxed. The rooftop bar had amazing views, everyone was so kind and the drinks were really good. Also, the restaurant had delicious food and a nice atmosphere. One dish we really enjoyed Lobster Brioche which was super fresh. We also had the French Toast with caramelized apples and mascarpone cream, which was a sweet and so delicious. Also, the Smoked Pastrami Sandwich was my son’s favourite. Each meal was delicious and showed the restaurant’s focus on great flavours. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a comfortable, and convenient place to stay in Toronto, this is it.

Amara, Wow, what a review. Sounds like you truly soaked up the Ace experience—comfy rooms, killer views, and some seriously tasty eats (shoutout to that Lobster Brioche!). Love that your son found a fave in the Pastrami Sandwich too. Our team will be thrilled to hear your kind words. Hope to see you back for another round of good vibes and great bites soon!

The staff was very welcoming and they set the room to be super comfy (lights dimmed with the radio playing). The pre check in process was a nice option which helped make the actual check in take only a couple of minutes.

The room was very clean.

The bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub (It was nice being able to go for a soak after walking around all day).

Very little hallway noise made it into the room. You could hear the occasional door close from adjacent rooms, but only if you were standing next to your room's door (like when taking off your shoes and stuff).

There was some HVAC noise (a constant low drone from the blower motor). It wasn't loud enough to bother me, but some people may be more affected by noise.

The food in the hotel lobby is amazing with lots of cafes and restaurants within a 15 min walk.

Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful review. We're so happy to hear you had such a comfortable stay. It’s great to know that the pre-check-in process made things smoother and that the room setup, including the lights and radio, helped set the mood for relaxation. We're also glad you enjoyed the bathroom features and the peace and quiet in your room—sounds like you had the perfect spot to unwind after your day. We appreciate your note on the HVAC noise as well; we'll keep that in mind for future improvements. And we couldn’t agree more about the food—we’re glad you loved it, and that there’s plenty more to explore nearby. We hope to see you back for another relaxing stay soon!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly hotel staff who made our stay extra special once we mentioned we were celebrating my partner's birthday. We planned to spend our entire stay inside the Ace as it was a cold, wintry day. Dinner downstairs at Alder was fantastic, followed by a night cap by the fireplace at the cozy rooftop bar, Evangeline. In the morning we enjoyed delicious coffees from the lobby bar, provided by the trendy, local coffee bar, Sam James Coffee. We stayed in the 'medium' room, which was nicely designed with a comfortable large bed, window bench seat, and soothing shower. Although on the pricier end, I'd highly recommend a stay, especially during the winter months when you can enjoy all of the amenities. Also, if you're an architecture fan, this hotel is not to be missed.

This hotel values style over substance. In the quest for streamlined decor, my "king" room had one tiny bistro table and one uncomfortable wooden chair. That was it, that was the entirety of the surface area for my possessions. The enormous windows had no drapes for privacy or room darkening, just janky, thin blinds that wouldn't stay closed. The bathroom was comically uncomfortable; no place to put my toiletries, two tiny hooks, shower so close to the sink that water splashed everywhere. Towels in a basket under the sink because the bathroom was the size of a postage stamp and completely without useful storage. No horizontal surfaces in the water closet, either. The stylized coat hooks by the door were so close to the door that I had to remove my coat if I wanted to open or close the door. And one random weeknight during my stay, the music from the 2nd floor party space was so loud that, even several floors above in my room, it kept me awake. The hotel staff said they couldn't do anything about it. In my estimation, the number one job of a hotel is to provide a comfortable place to sleep, and they couldn't do it.

So thanks for the help. I won't be back, and I'll get my company to remove the hotel from their list of preferred places to stay.

Stayed here three nights in October. Rooms very modern with great shower and bath amenities such as soap, shampoo and conditioners.

Bad design to pull down shades in the room which wouldn’t stay down all the way and which one has to contort their hands in order to operate.

Had a fire alarm go off at 5am where the whole building was evacuated with blaring sirens and flashing lights. All guests outside in cold weather in their pajamas with no explanation from the staff as to what had occurred even after my girlfriend and I asking twice. Also, no small gesture was ever offered for the frightening experience and inconvenience. These things obviously happen but it would’ve been nice to have had even a note slipped under our door with an apology.

Lastly, the front desk staff while pleasant enough, clearly are not bothered in going out of their way for small requests. For instance, there is no coffee maker in the room and when we asked for some instant (there is a kettle but no complimentary tea or coffee or amenities for coffee or tea drinking provided in the room) we were made to feel like this was a big deal. We eventually got some packets of coffee from “hospitality” but the process felt anything but hospitable. Unacceptable at this price point for sure, we’ve had full on Nespresso machines with unlimited daily pods refilled at lower price points.

If you want a hip vibe, they have that covered but if you value a personal touch to your service I’d suggest staying elsewhere.

We liked everything about this hotel. We are from Toronto but now just visit, but visit frequently, and this is our favorite hotel stay so far! The aesthetic was incredibly beautiful; the architecture of the building, the furniture choices, the quality of the bedding and bathroom supplies. It was just a pleasure to be there. We are both very tall and normally prefer a king sized bed, but the bed was so comfortable and the linens so nice that we found we did not miss a bigger bed at all. The room was small but perfect, we did not feel cramped at all. The design was immaculate, with closets to put your bags, hooks for your coats, a spacious entry, table and chairs and more. The designer of the hotel knows what they are dong, it all feels so thoughtful. The quality of the choices of fabric, furniture and construction are apparent. The room also felt very private, very well designed in this way.

We ate breakfast there twice, excellent espresso and food choices at the bar, and we had snacks and drinks at the rooftop bar. I don't think Toronto has ever been that cool but it is now! :)

The staff were so fantastic, all of them, at both the front desk and the bars, they were genuinely competent and caring. We almost did not stay here because when you call you get a generic answering service that basically shows you it is obvious that you are calling an American hotel chain. We were looking for something non-generic. We came anyway and wow are we happy we did. Why do these companies do it that way? It would be so much better if you talked to an employee actually invested in the culture of the hotel, who could personalize the answers to your questions. It would add a layer of service that would be on par with the genuineness of the rest of their offerings.

We are hoping this will be our go-to place in Toronto if we continue to be able to access affordable rates. Thank you to Ace Hotel for giving us an experience of authentic quality in a world where this is harder and harder to find!

Nice hotel in a good location in Toronto. Very comfortable bed, nice view, and good shower pressure! Hipster vibe. There's a great food hall across the street. Everyone who worked at the hotel was very friendly. My only beef is that there was no in-room coffee and no complimentary coffee at all. So upon waking, I had to go down to the very public-feeling bar/lobby in my pajamas to buy a $5 cup of coffee. Aren't hipsters into coffee? Why not just give it to guests for free? Do your other guests really want to see me bleary eyed and uncaffeinated in my ratty pjs? Free coffee seems pretty standard, especially at this price point.

O'rya, Thanks for the great feedbac. We’re so glad you enjoyed the comfy bed, nice view, and solid shower pressure—plus our awesome location and friendly team. We hear you on the coffee situation! While we can’t change the setup right now, we’ve noted your preference and will make sure to have some coffee ready in your room for your next stay. Your point about keeping guests caffeinated and out of their pajamas in public is totally fair—thanks for the laugh and the suggestion! Looking forward to welcoming you back soon—well-rested, caffeinated, and ready to enjoy more of Toronto!

It would be easy to miss the Ace Hotel, tucked in a cozy residential area, until you step inside.

Soaring ceiling, architectural touches everywhere, enormous windows to bring in the greenery from the local park.

Friendly and welcoming staff made the hotel immediately feel very special.

The "small" room was absolutely perfect. Having stayed in numerous NYC hotels that are truly small, the Ace's room was incredibly well thought out and space efficient.

Everything had a place...a hidden desk, tons of storage space, a shower and sink in a separate room from the toilet room created an ideal amount of space for one or two.

The room had a window bench which was the perfect perch to watch kids and dogs playing in the local park.

Design wise, the room featured high concrete ceilings along with soft muted colors which while totally modern were also soothing and cozy.

The lobby bar area was beautiful and a great spot to enjoy a drink and chat amongst the truly stunning architecture.

The Ace will be my #1 hotel when staying in Toronto

We recently spent 4 nights here and loved every minute. We had a large double which overlooked the small park. The room was spacious with plenty of shelves and hanging to store things and also a lovely window seat which we actually used! The bathroom had a large bath which I used twice after walking many kms around fabulous Toronto. The hotel is in a great downtown location for exploring on foot. Staff are all amazing - friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area. We had breakfast here every morning - a delicious pastry with very good coffee. Other dining options are just around the corner. The bed was so so so comfortable! I actually looked forward to going to bed every evening, which is rare in a hotel/being away from home! There was also very little noise at night, which enabled us to get a good night's sleep. Linens were spotless and I thought having a black face flannel marked 'makeup' was a genius idea. The only tiny minor negative, which happens in so many hotels, is the lack of a mirror in natural daylight to do makeup. There is only one small mirror in the bathroom and no full length mirror. Apparently this is part of the hotel's ethos. Fair enough. We really enjoyed our stay here, and despite being decidedly un-hip and middle aged (!) didn't feel out of place and were made to feel welcome. Whether you're looking for a staycation or a hotel for exploring, we would definitely recommend this hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
