Quiet and comfortable, good value for Toronto, and in a good location. Breakfast is not made-to-order B&B style, but serve yourself, although a cut above the usual highway hotel continental breakfast. WiFi throughout is a plus. Reasonable parking in a garage a couple of blocks away. Our room (ask for it, not listed on the website) was the "Grey Room"...

I stayed at the McGill Inn this August. I was looking for something reasonably priced and in a good location. I had previously booked into a hostel, but after reading the bad reviews, I didn't feel it would be very safe! I was spending the week in Toronto alone so feeling safe was the most important thing for me. The...

I arrived and Ergin was there to greet me and show me around. My room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable. The self serve breakfast was a plus, as I needed to be somewhere quite early. It was a great location for me, very easy to get around to the stores nearby, bus terminal, restaurants, quiet neighbourhood. I...

As I was arriving in Toronto a few hours before check in I had arranged to drop my bag off but when I arrived dripping wet from the downpour that occurred as I was walking from the transit centre my room was ready and Ergin kindly carried my bag up to the Gray room on the top floor. There is...

Excellent location, very quiet for the area. The room is equipped with a more than decent bed, breakfast is included, the host (who advised us how to park our car as cheaply and as close as possible) is friendly and helpful

The bed and breakfast is very comfortable, staff is hospitable, and the breakfast table is filled with good stuff to eat (and take on your day tours with you). Rooms and bathrooms are clean and in a good shape. You walk 15min into the heart of the city, a great Chinese place is just around the corner. So, you couldnt...

I found this place through the internet, and can't recommend it too highly. It is perfectly located, Central, only about 5 minutes walk to the College Subway station, but very quietly located. There are 5 (4?) rooms and the owner doesn't live there, so it combines the best features of a B%B and a hotel. Large room with a very...

This place makes you feel at home right from the start. You can feel that the hosts care about their place and their guests from the first email you send to the time you say goodbye. The place is very clean, the rooms we stayed in (blue room first, then the lila room) were extremely well designed and cozy, especially...

The staff is friendly. Facilities are easy to access and price/night is fair. I particularly like the winter discount program, which is very sweet for people who have to travel in winter. I would certainly stay there whenever I visit Toronto.

I enjoyed very much staying at McGill Inn. I've been visiting Toronto for few days, and was very lucky to stay in McGill's place. The owner of the place, Ergin is a very nice and welcoming guy. Breakfasts are delicious and generous AND prices are fare. I felt like home!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
