On arrival we the check in it was very straight forward although the check in was very busy and we had to wait a little while. Our room was very cold for July and very out dated and when we asked the supervisor cleaning other rooms to turn the heating on we was told it was controlled by the a...

Pros: Above all, this hotel has an unbeatable location in downtown Toronto - walkable to everything, not even a block from the heart of Yonge Street. There was a beautiful underused pool of for adults only, which is a plus if you're there without kids. Speaking of the adult area, there was a pretty top notch hotel fitness room. Value...

My son and I stayed at the Eaton after appointments at sick kids. I understand we had a hospital rate, however, the room was small. The toilet had issues flushing and the mirror kept falling off the wall in the room. The worst part is this. A friend dropped off a package and I was called to go get it....

Although looking quite dated and worn now, this is still pretty value for downtown Toronto. The central location makes it ideal for a Toronto getaway. The staff was very friendly and helpful too. Large hotel; check in and out can be very slow. Elevator wait time is sometimes painful, especially at check out time.

First impression was amazing. Big. Busy. Full of life. Second impression. Awful. Smelled like smoke. Dirty mildewy towels left in room. No housekeeping the second day. Had to call and get towels - took over an hour to get them. When they arrived, they were not clean. Informed hotel staff upon departure and was told the feedback would be passed...

My partner and I stayed at the hotel this past weekend and I must say it was the worst hotel stay I have ever had by far. Besides how outdated the hotel was, the service was horrendous and the staff were at times blantantly rude for no reason. We waited to check in for 20 minutes. Once checked in I...

Old, outlived, poor and dirty. Only positive thing is the location in the center of Toronto. Regular double bed rooms are broken and unrenovated, the "deluxe" rooms should've been renovated, but are too broken and come in a mess of ugly brownish colors. No 4 stars at all, in Europe you wouldn't expect 2 stars at all !

My husband and I just returned today from our mini-honeymoon. I choose the Eaton Chelsea based on the price, location, and what the room had to offer. I choose a Club Room, because the idea of a continental breakfast and evening appetizers appealed to us. We checked in late Friday evening, and it was busy. The front desk staff moved...

It's a little dated, but nice enough. Everything was clean...the rooms have balconies, which is nice. Friendly staff, plenty of dining/bar options on site. But the best part was location...very close to a lot of things to do- bars, restaurants, shops, subways. If you want really nice or fancy, this isn't it. If you're more concerned with location- do it.

The Chelsea has always been our preferred place for staying in Toronto, so we have been using the hotel for the last 23 years. Our last stay was for four nights as my son was receiving medical care at Sick Kids , which is only two short blocks away. No problem getting the hospital rate. Rooms were always clean, maybe...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
