We stayed two nights at the Eaton Chelsea. It was ideally located for the annual Buskerfest. It's clear work has been done, especially in the lobby, but the hotel is still showing its age. The room was clean and comfortable, but lacked a fan in the bathroom, so if you were second to the shower, you had better not need... More

The pictures online are very misleading. Other than the front lobby, the hotel is in need of a major renovation. We stayed in the smaller building , which I guess is the older part of the hotel, which appeared to be very worn. Our room was dirty and dated, especially the furniture. The floors were dirty , wallpaper torn, and... More

Staff, as always very helpful & informative. The room was clean & comfortable. Great location, within walking distance to Sick Kids Hospital. I found the quality of food at Market Garden below standards, pizza was barely warm & crust was like cardboard.

We got this hotel thru Priceline. Good location as we were able to walk to a lot of places and restaurants. We walked to Chinatown, Kensington Market and other sites. Big hotel that is family friendly. We liked the patio outside of the on site restaurant and the gym/pool area. Especially appreciated that it was open late. Didn't care for... More

On a business trip to Toronto and the vendor booked this hotel. The hotel is pretty average. Room is ok, clean but not really special. Bathroom is not really trendy or stylish so I guess for the purpose of business trip is just ok. Quite a big hotel so lots of people around and quite noisy I have to say.... More

The Eaton Chelsea is perfectly located for downtown Toronto- 5-10 minute walk from Yonge-Dundas square. It is therefore a great base for exploring Toronto. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious and have cable TV. The pool / gym / jacuzzi area is pristine but small with outstanding view of CN Tower. The staff were generally friendly. Quite affordable. Good... More

Very enjoyable stay. Hotel allowed us to leave our car on the Mon. morning - while we visited the Hockey Hall of Fame and Wayne Gretzky's restaurant. Being able to get a Pizza made up for us , to take up to the room was a bonus. - on the Sun . night. Would highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed here for a week in August. Location could not have been better -- close to hospitals, university, and city centre. Our room was sound-proof and the bed was comfortable. Staff were very accommodating. Highly recommended.

This hotel is on the corner of Yonge and Gerard. It is 10 minutes easy walk fro Toronto General Hospital. Several good restaurants are available within a 5 minute walk from any of the 3 entrances. Renovations continue and some of the older rooms are really tired. Price is reasonable and the balconies are an added bonus

Was there in Aug/2014 with my wife and kids. Hotel lobby is so crowded that looks like a permanent huge fair is happening anytime. Service is terrible everywhere: room service was always a surprise, with wet towels left on the bed, floor was wet, and cleaning is not top priority in hotel. Regarding staff, bad humor is mandatory, especially in... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
