We were hit by the 2013 Toronto ice storm and had no power at our home, so after 2 agonizing days in a frigid house we checked into the Novotel at the Esplanade which welcomed us including our dog(at no extra charge) and they even gave us a little bag with Doggie treats. Our room was clean, comfortable and well...

We stayed for 2 nights, but not consecutive nights therefore had 2 different rooms. The first room was a little rundown, the toilet seat was loose and the bathroom sink was cracked and broken and should've been replaced. The room was on the 4th floor but looking out the window (at a carpark) we were only just above ground level??...

We booked this room for a very good price from a third party. I wonder if that is why we had the last room which is right in front of the bars and restaurants. Being a Saturday night, it was very noisy as we could hear the people talk even with the window closed. When they were all in the...

We visited Toronto over Thanksgiving and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable and the desk people were mostly helpful. We ordered room service breakfast one morning and it was very good, especially the fresh squeezed orange juice. The location was great for exploring the downtown area. We parked our car in the garage...

Great location, near to all the places we came to visit. Jenna was excellent at the fron desk. Very helpful & courteous. Room was very comfortable & the 47" flat screen TV was awesome. Bar & lounge had a great atmosphere.

I booked this hotel for a mid-week night in the city - it was perfect for what we needed. The lobby was beautiful and it was in a great location. the room itself was a little run-down but there was nothing wrong with it. It is within walking distance to many restaurants, bars and tourist spots - I definitely recommend...

Headed to Novotel centre for a two day stay in Toronto. The staff were very helpful, pleasant and we actually had an medical incident and the staff were very helpful. Rooms were clean and pleasant. Mattress was very comfy and had a great sleep each night. We only ate at the restaurant hotel twice and both times were fine, not...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
