I was impressed at first. Nice street with old frat houses very near Bloor street and the U of Toronto campus which I had to visit on business. I wanted to like it. However it is lacking in many important ways. The bed is not good, old matress and uncomfortable. TV is old and has fuzzy channels, internet is HORRIBLE...

Dear Guest: I apologize that during your stay our WIFI system had a major systems failure and it took several days to address and fix. We appreciate that it makes it frustrating for guests who need to be connected. We have 6 Victorian Pubs at the Madison and we were inviting our guests to use one of our Victorian Pubs...

The room was cozy with nice stained glass windows, but could have used an extra blanket in case you needed it or just to relax on top of bed. It happened to be pretty cold during our stay. The gas fireplace did not really put out any heat, but it was appreciated. The separate entrance was really nice and convenient....

Dear Guests: Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We are delighted you liked your room and enjoyed your stay. We have recently upgraded our WIFI system and it is working well. We are always working to improve service. We are a small operation, so we do not have full time IT staff. Our WIFI is complimentary, with a...

This was our second stay at this funky little hotel. The location could not be better, right near the U of T campus, just a few blocks to the Royal Ontario Museum and close to The Annex. If one is looking for modern luxury you won't find it here, but if you want a quaint, clean, funky room at a...

I have graced the Maddy pub more times than I care to count with friends from university - specifically because of the piano player on certain nights of the week. When my parents came to visit me, they had no idea which hotel to choose - a long term stay meant that a 5* hotel wasn't worth it, and ended...

Dear Guests: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted you enjoyed our Madison Manor and our Madison Avenue Pub and Restaurant. This quirky hotel/pub was comfortable and reasonably clean for the price. The location was ideal - right at the Spadina Ave subway stop on the Bloor line. Since it is a converted Victorian style home there are stairs so be sure to find out what floor your room is on if this is an issue. I was on the third...

We enjoyed our time at this hotel. The decorations and style of the hotel gave it such a warm homey feeling, it is unlike any hotel. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. The rooms were comfortable and quaint although on the small side. The hotel is a part of a pub which becomes very lively at night...

Dear Guests: Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We are delighted you liked your room and enjoyed your stay. I have stayed at this charming boutique hotel half a dozen times over the years and have recommended it to others. Never again! My room (407) was ridiculously cold last Saturday night and, short of throwing a spare blanket on the bed, there was no way to warm it up. Consequently, I got little sleep. I've often wondered whether I'd...

Dear Guest: Thank you for taking the time to write. I am sorry that your stay was not as you had enjoyed with us in the past. Stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday. The parking was a bit confusing, but the front desk was helpful in solving the problem. It's a beautiful hotel, but unfortunately it's situated next to a frat house. So be cautious when booking during the school year.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
