The Lord Elgin Hotel is named after the first Governor-General of the united Canadas, James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin. The hotel was opened in 1941. If you want to see Canada's magnificent Houses of Parliament (which is advisable) don't take a taxi, walk -- it's only a couple of hundred yards (metres) from the hotel. The hotel itself is...

You can't get better than this hotel for location. It's easy access to all festivities and attractions. Glad I had the chance to experience their new renovations. My room was very large and even being on the 3rd floor, I had a great view of the park. Love the new bathroom, very clean, bright and practical. Great shower head too....

A good place for meetings or conferences. Well located and just steps away from the canal, the Parliament Buildings, Spark Street, NAC. Newly renovated. I had a small room but it was all I needed for myself. Great bathroom renos make best use of small space - removed the never used tub and replaced with a great spacious stand up...

I stayed several years ago and this time I booked because the hotel my meeting was at was booked. It is newly renovated and clean. Comfortable beds and good service. I would start again and I would bring my family. Very convenient for downtown and sites.

Went away for 4 nights with my husband to Ottawa and selected the Lord Elgin hotel due to location and 'stay and save' discounts. From arrival to departure, staff were AWESOME. Extremely friendly, welcoming and professional. Sarah, who I believe was a new employee was really good - I would hire her if she was in our city! She was...

From the moment we drove up to the hotel, until the valet gave us bottles of water for our return journey home, we had a truly excellent experience. The front desk staff were friendly and courteous. The concierge gave us advice on what to see during our stay. The rooms were immaculate, comfortable with the perfect view of the Winterlude...

We wanted a short winter getaway and the Lord Elgin was perfect. Winterlude was in progress and we only had to walk across the street to enjoy the Festivities. The hotel has old world charm with modern amenities. Enjoyed both cocktails at LE's bar and coffee at their Starbucks. Our room was great with a view of the city. Bed...

Had a great stay at the Lord Elgin Hotel in downtown Ottawa for Winterlude. The rooms were very clean and spacious with comfortable beds.. The air quality was very good with humidity for a good sleep. Excellent central downtown Ottawa location right across from Winterlude Festivites and Rideau canal skating. My only complaint would be that the pool was cold...

My daughter and I stayed at Lord Elgin this past weekend, the last weekend of Winterlude. This was our third stay at LE in the past few years. From the first phone call, I was treated with respect and every one of my requests (quiet room, higher floor, late check in) was granted. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the...

Didn't start off well when I discovered at check-in that there was no reservation for me, despite confirmation from my travel agent. Staff were polite and sorted it out. Ended up with a room upgrade - corner room with King bed. Fantastic views across the park with ice sculptures. Good buffet breakfast (CA$19 plus tax). Also a Starbucks on site...
