The hotel was kind of hidden away but nice and quiet. Felt safe in the area. Quick access to the 400. Quick access to a lot of different places. Clean well stocked and a friendly reception. There's a little Italian restaurant that's next door that is really good too
Post COVID-19 travel has been an experience. The world is a different place for the traveler and inn keeper. This establishment never lost sight of the golden rule: Service above all else. Once you enter the facility and approach the front desk, you know that you are in a place of service excellence. After checking in, I requested additional towels. I walked outside to the car and back to my room and the team member was waiting at my door with my towels. WOW !!! I had a few questions and approached the front desk. The team member jumped on the phone and called several outlets to assist me. Meanwhile, another member of the hospitality team, hearing my request, came over to offer assistance. Double WOW!!!! If I am anywhere near this area in the future, for any reason, I am staying here!! I recommend this establishment and team.…
Recently stayed for two nights and was one of the worst experiences. Not what you would expect for a Marriot. Each floor had a room that was blocked off because the door was broken in, there were police at the hotel every morning and one night, used needles were found under the stairs in side stairwell, pool and weight room were out of commission, and night visitors came and left through the evening, This is not a hotel you would want to bring kids or family to.
I travel a lot for work and stay at many different hotels. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member. I was travelling with my spouse and our children. Our hotel room was disgusting. The bathroom in our room had long hair stuck to the floor tiles (see pictures attached) and there were pubic hairs on the toilet. The back of the entry door to our room had oil running down the door from the automatic door closer. The peep hole cover had been nocked off and was stuck further down the door (see picture attached). The in room coffee machine and supplies had spilled coffee on them from a prior guest. The carpet was not properly vacuumed. We arrived late at night and I disinfected the room myself with alcohol since chances are that another room would be no cleaner. I reported this to the front desk immediately and they relayed the message to hotel management. The common areas such as the elevator are not clean and you can tell there are grease and smudge marks. We did not use the pool as some of the guests we witnessed did not shower (as required) before entering. The hotel advertises a buffet breakfast but all you get is bagged cheese and egg sandwiches (with condensation) with a yogurt and a very green banana. Breakfast is served only until 9:00am. As a side note there were some interesting characters hanging around outside. The hotel management did not respond to my complaint nor did they offer to do anything. I sent an email to Marriott but did not get a reply in 2 days. I then called Marriott Corporate and was assured that the "management team" would come up with a satisfactory resolution. Two days later I was called by the Local manager who offered me 10,000 points for a future stay. Are you kidding me? I will not stay at this property ever again. Marriott may loose me as a customer over this.…
I came down for a business trip for a work function. The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. Staff was friendly and easy to deal with. My shower was a little quirky as it was ether cold or really hot. I used the pool which was a nice temperature. The mens public restroom has a minor issue with the sink as it didnt function when I went to wash my hands.
We did a stopover in Barrie and being Bonvoy members, we automatically chose this hotel. Important lesson learned - not all hotels in the brand are the same. We checked in after 4pm or tried to. Another traveller had been waiting for 10 minutes for a clerk to appear. We took turns ringing the bell that is there as the phone rang continuously. Eventually the clerk appeared and we checked into a cramped room. The grab and go breakfast was a pleasant surprise and quite good. The pillows were flat - other Fairfield Inns usually have a firmer option. So we had terrible sleeps and a day of driving ahead of us. Unless you want pizza, you will have to get in your car again to get dinner. Next time we pass through Barrie, we will take advantage of the many other options available.
Friendly staff, good service, available breakfast to go (in a bag) however our room (#302) was not as clean as it should have been and the bathroom needs to be repainted and the shower pan was very mouldy around the bottom and up the sides...not Marriott standard. I would have thought the place would have been spotless after the pandemic but I was disappointed. We have stayed at this hotel many times but I think next time we will try another hotel.
Third year visitor. Pre-allocated Room not ready at 3 pm arrival, Room not clean on day 2 of 5 ( told to read sign at reception desk - too late as staff had gone at 4 pm). Coffee was not warm when and if available. Breakfast egg McMuffins and no eggs. Hall Side door exit to parking not working. Told before reservation city parking was ok on side street ( not so as it is limited to city parking owner only), otherwise be ready for $10/hr or $50 / day fee welcome to Barrie. Since we did not feel welcome we cut short our stay after 2 days and cancelled our golf and restaurants plans.
The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Orillia is new, so all of the furnishings and appliances are excellent. The staff - all of them - were very welcoming and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our one-night stay. But Orillia seems determined to keep tourists out of its beautiful beachfront parks and beaches because more than 90 per cent of the parking spaces are reserved for local residents only. One tiny visitor parking area we found charges $50 per day from Friday to Sunday evening with no provision for hourly rates.
Horrible. Went into our "clean room" and used condom and wrapper in the garbage in bathroom. Very disappointed as we are loyal Marriott customers. Would not recommend this hotel . Man at front desk was very nice though considering.
