It's late but will be on point and honest! Our wedding was held at Horseshoe resort July 16 with approx 90 guests from age 1-77. First remarks are we had an amazing and supercharged fun stay with our family and friends over the course of 5 days. Sooooo much to do here for half the price of similar resorts. Our ceremony was held at the top of the ski hill and was magical. Dining in the tent at main hotel was super fun, convenient and the fire pits were a hit with everyone. We had "Tie the Knot" as our wedding band and a quick plug for them as they were out of this world - kept everyone dancing and feeling great!!!! The great parts were absolutely the staff. Outstanding through and through. Our wedding planner Dawn and the catering staff and manager John were beyond expectations and impressed every single one of our guests. Food was fantastic, hot and yummy. The attention that ALL our guests recieved are a model for other resorts to copy. All our guests commented it was one of the best weddings and venue they have attended. Needs improvement - for sure the hotel and even the suites are in need of upgrades and attention. Honestly the hotel is past rustic and dated from what looks like the 70's/80's still. Suites are well appointed, spacious and newer but definitely in need of TLC. Most recent reviews here are on point regarding accommodation, but the rest of the resort is definitely fantastic. If you are looking for fun, safe place for your family this is the place (accommodation aside) it is truly amazing for its size and packs a punch for things to keep everyone happy and busy. Recommendations to management. Keep your staff, treat em right and some of us customers will forgive the neglectful operation of the hotel. As the other reviews mention, many won't forgive the accommodation so it's best your ownership figure this out quickly. Other resorts in the same price category are far superior in this regard. Closing - we are fans. As mentioned our guests are quite diverse and range as far as Iowa and South Africa, all are planning their next stays here. As a previous Ski pro, Canadian athlete, father of 6 boys and now a newly wed husband I will keep coming back summer, winter for sure. Please visit, I'm confident you will have a great time. I checked into this hotel and checked out 10 minutes later. Was going to Vettä spa and this hotel was close. Pictures online didn’t look amazing but the hotel looked decent. Upon arrival and given my room. Extremely dated and dirty looking. Hotel room gave off 70s porn vibes, not kidding. I didn’t even want to put my bags on the gross couch. Chipped paint. Beat up door. Stains on all the carpets. Just a extremely outdated gross looking hotel. Only positive thing I can say is the front desk lady was kind tried to help and gave me another room but it was the same so I just checked out. Wasn’t even there 10 minutes. Drive to blue mountain and stayed at the Westin( beautiful and amazing service and 100 bucks cheaper) they even upgraded my room for free when I told then of the horrible experience at Horsehoe. Go to Westin at Blue Moutain instead !!! If this room at Horshoe was like 60-80 bucks a night just maybe I could understand. I still wouldn’t stay lol but 400 a night you kind of expect to not feel like you need to take a shower from just stepping in the room. I have never left a bad review before and I feel like I am not tough to make happy. I promise you this hotel does not look anything like it does online. Don’t do it !!!…
Stay was great all around. We stayed for the golf and stay package but unfortunately due to weather golf had been cancelled. Unfortunately we found activities limited with poor weather. Horseshoe refunded to balance for golf so that was appreciated. Staff was excellent. Not peak season so I think some amenities were limited. Wish I had done some more research on trails available in the area though I'm sure staff could have offered suggestions. Great trip overall. The loft room we stayed in was fantastic! Bed was awesome.
The rooms are attractive enough with a small fridge, but no microwave, and somewhat dark as they’re painted a nice shade of dark bronze. Stayed one night alone and the next in a different room with a friend. The first night, the room was very hot when I arrived (76°) and the thermostat wouldn’t adjust at first, but I fiddled with it and was able to get the room to cool down to about 70°, which is still too warm for me. The window opened and that helped to keep the room cooler through the night. Bathroom issues - there were no tissues in the room and the water in the toilet was very low, so I had to flush multiple times to get the contents to disappear. Do we really save any water when that happens? Very few of the electrical outlets would hold a plug firmly to charge my devices. The plugs kept slipping out and charging wouldn’t happen until I pushed something heavy against the plug to keep it in place. The carpets are filthy which I couldn’t tell until I took off my white socks after moving around the room for 2-3 hours in sock feet. Ewwww! The second night, the room was also a very hot 76°, but we couldn’t get it to cool down even 1°, and the windows did not open in that room. I didn’t sleep well at all. There were more electrical outlets since it was a bigger room and they all firmly held the plugs. Both rooms had windows that were so dirty I couldn’t see the rain that I could hear falling. Both rooms were very quiet. The property has a nice pool and a great hot tub. The rooms were $260 each night which is way too much for what we got. If I came back to town to play Settler’s Ghost golf course again, I’d stay 15 minutes away in Barrie and make the drive back and forth.…
This resort charges premium rates for a not premium stay. This is a very very old, very very tired hotel. The doors into the room look like raccoons have been chewing them. We had to book 2 nights, however, it was not stated that there was no housekeeping A double room was provided 1 face. cloth, the coffee maker was broken. We advised the front desk at 0800; at 1630 went to the desk to find out where the facecloths and coiffed maker were. Would strongly advise bringing your own pillow, the pillows on bed are like cement blocks. Overall disappointed in my stay
Honestly, lovely staff. Spacious suites if you shell out the cash. The pull out couches were horrible with springs coming through. No mattress protectors on any of the beds, and rot and mold in the shower stalls. I expected better for $1000.00 for two nights.
Please pay closer attention to detail when cleaning. My family had a good time relaxing, kayaking and padle boarding on the lake. We explolred the area on the trails Outdoor Pool area was nice and relaxing
A somewhat disappointing getaway with no front desk staff on arrival, outdated room, dirty carpets, pool and hazardous walkways in front of the entrance area. Location is nice, staff were friendly. Challenging golf course, but only 12 holes.
Our Best place for family gateway , skiing, dining and enjoying the hospitality! Very friendly staff who try their very best to accommodate your stay and make it unforgettable. Our special thanks to the manager Jeff from our family of four. He has accommodated our needs throughout our stay!!! We are repeatable guests of Horseshoe Resort and our family tradition is to stay here for Christmas. Pet Friendly!!! This time we have taken our dog with us, it made our stay even more special:) Only 1 hour away from Toronto. Very cozy hotel with New restaurant on premises. Pool, Jacuzzi,Sauna and much more.
Room was awful, air didn’t cool the room despite being so noisy it woke us every time it turned on. Mattress needs replacing, terrible to sleep on. Cancelled additional nights and left early. Unsurprisingly, given the last few years, resort is tired and run down. Staff appear to lack training and impact of covid very evident in people as well as the property.
