A warm, friendly place in the midst of a beautiful and culturally rich city. Close to the beautiful waterfront, many theaters, bookstores, etc. I would definitely recommend this place for travelers whose budget isn't very high. Happy tavelling!

I'm a seasoned traveler and have used hostels throughout Europe and this place has to be the most hostile environment that I've ever stayed in. The Chinese owner opened the conversation by telling me that I was fat and needed a smaller mouth. She took pains to establish that I wasn't an alcoholic, a trouble maker or was loud. The...

The owner (maybe it's a couple, I only met the man) is extremely unfriendly. We booked a double room and the bed was ways too small for two people. When we asked for a separate linen to use the matress (which was in the room) he didn't give us one and wanted to charge us extra for the matress and the linen....

First, the owner was over an hour late for check-in, then yakked it up with each person for so long, I ended up waiting another half hour. The cops were there to break up a fight. There were lots of people who seemed to be living there. It seems more like a half-way house than a hostel. I saw rodents...

With only 3 hostels in Victoria we were left with a last minute booking since everywhere was full, we requested a private room but the manager agreed then apon arival said we cannot stay in the only private room because it was for married couples and I was travelling with a friend. This place is in a dodgy neighbourhood not...

This hostel was dirty and disgusting. The smelly room/attic was the size of a broom closet along with an uncomfortable lumpy bed and an old dresser. Cob webs hung from the only picture on the wall. I didn't feel safe there but had no choice to stay as it was Labor Day weekend and everything reasonably priced was booked. Bathrooms...

Granted that this is my first stay here, but this place is lovely. I didn't encounter any of the problems from previous reviews (vagrants. Bedbugs. Drugs etc.) which leads me to believe that they've fixed the place up. The landlady is super friendly and nice and will accommdate you as best as she can. The rest of the tenants were...

The hostel is a cute little house in Victoria. It has a small balcony for everyone and pretty good bathrooms for a hostel. You can walk pretty much everywhere from the hostel. The supermakets are only a couple streets up and so are little restaurants and bars. The waterfront isn't far either. The woman running the hostel is super sweet,...

I have enjoyed staying at the turtle hostel several times over the years when I come to victoria. The beds are comfortable and made from a material that bebugs can't live on. I have never seen a bedbug here or heard about other guests getting them. The common areas are clean and cozy and the price is right for travellers.
