We have stayed at this property many times and will continue to patronize it. Friendly helpful staff, comfortable clean rooms and well located just minutes from the Inner Harbour. All rooms have kitchens or kitchenettes which is a real bonus when staying for longer periods.
We usually use Airbnb, but waited too long on a recent Xmas trip and had to book a hotel. So glad we choose Helms Inn. You can't get more central (it's right behind the Royal BC Museum), with everything in the inner harbor/downtown in easy walking distance. Rooms are spacious, and it's rare to find a modestly priced hotel that also includes a full kitchen. We booked 2 rooms (1 for our grown children) and they placed us right next to each other - super convenient. The only improvement we could think of, was perhaps to have a small shoe/boot mat in each room's entryway? We found that visiting during late Dec, we were coming in with slushy boots and they then dripped all over the floor. A small mat/tray with a lip with solve this nicely.... Cheers!
Pleasantly surprised by this warm and friendly hotel. Clean and comfortable room staffed by friendly and helpful employees. The bathroom has good water pressure/temperature and was very clean. The heating worked very well and we slept comfortably during a cold minus 5 night. Only downside was minor noise from the nearby road. Excellent value.
We stayed for 4 nights and mostly good experience except for the paper thin walls and floor. Older hotel but was renovated since. Nice suite style room but comes with a price. You will hear all sounds from hallway and from other rooms due to the thin walls and floors. Our room was clean and well equipped. This is a very busy hotel likely due to the lower rates. High foot traffic. Multiple buildings. Walking distance to waterfront and downtown. We were lucky to have 1 night of noisy neighbour only. Otherwise it would have been a nightmare experience.
Pleasantly surprised with the Helms Inn. On the cheap side for Victoria, especially with the proximity to the downtown core, it's right beside the Royal BC Museum. Fabulous location! The parking cost $10.50 with taxes. So reasonable. The staff was friendly, the guy at the front desk brought me outside to show me where to park for the "overflow" parking. That's just good service. The room was clean, the beds were nice enough, though could be comfortable. The place was quiet, had a fridge and microwave. My family and I would not hesitate in using the Helms Inn again when in Victoria!
