This was our first visit to Vancouver, and we stayed 2 nights prior to a cruise. We arrived quite late due to a late and delayed flight, so the room codes were helpful. My only complaint was how dark the road was, and how hard of a time we had finding the place. We circled the same few houses at...

Sept 2013. First visit to Vancouver. This proved to be an excellent choice for us. The location on the #10 bus route to downtown via the Granville Island area was exactly what we wanted. Parking is available at the rear of the property. This is a very attractive older house that has been renovated to perfection. The rooms are spacious,...

Hard to give this a star-rating because some aspects were superb and others slightly odd. Lovely room, spacious, clean, well equipped and comfortable. Good breakfasts. Quite expensive, but so is everything in Vancouver. Why surreal? - we had to let ourselves in on arrival: being jet-lagged human contact would have been welcome! And we never met the hosts during our...

Dear CBABS, I am sorry for my delayed response to your review: Thank you for your kind comments "Lovely room, spacious, clean, well equipped and comfortable. Good breakfasts." All guests can request "human contact" on arrival by selecting Host Check In at your ETA. It is possible we did meet as we live onsite and are young enough to be...

We enjoyed the room and the hospitality Pam provided. She is so cheery and very Green minded. Modern rooms in a large home close to parks and not far from Grandville Island. Eggs for breakfast were scrumptious blend of puffy egges with crab and cheese. Close to the road so noisy during rush hours.

Our son was getting married and the bride's parents and wedding location were situated very close to the B&B. We reserved all five rooms for family members for two nights and this worked very well for all. The rooms were very comfortable, nicely appointed and just right for the locale and event. It was great to have the space and...

The location is is a good one for access to the west side and downtown. The breakfasts are very good and the staff and owners are friendly, perhaps too much so if you prefer to eat your breakfast and read the paper. The road noise from Granville is loud and constant; it is a main and well-used thoroughfare. This means...

Biker72, Thank you for your kind comments about our location & "The breakfasts are very good and the staff and owners are friendly". I am sorry you found the Elm Junior Suite too noisy: These complaints only come from light sleepers who open the bedroom window (instead of the suggested bathroom window) at night. Please note we recommend 4 other...

My wife and I stayed at the Granville House after taking a 7-day Alaskan cruise. Our friends who found Granville were the B&B goers. Our cruise arrived early on Saturday morning so we arrived at 10:30. We had to make one trip around the place because Granville Ave. is a very busy street and house numbers were difficult to read....

We stayed at Granville House for 2 weeks in May 2013. It was our first visit to Vancouver to visit our daughter & son-in-law for the imminent birth of their first baby. Granville House was chosen for its close proximity to both their house and the maternity hospital. It was easy to find and the bus stop for downtown was...

The House is spotless, owners have a no shoes policy so pack slippers. Room was nicely appointed, bed comfortable and bathroom spacious, in room coffee machine was provided but I wish they had put regular milk in the fridge instead of the awful powder synthetic creamer. The air-conditioning situation left a lot to be desired, granted there was an unusual heatwave...

Thank you for your 4/5 review. We have removed the synthetic creamers from the in room fridges, but there is always fresh 2% milk, Almond milk, Soy milk & creamers in the breakfast area fridge. The AC has been upgraded since you stayed with us. Your Elm Junior Suite sign says "we do not recommend light sleepers open the bedroom...

We stayed one evening at the Granville House B&B and were very satisfied. It is very secure in a residential neighborhood right on one of the main bus routes. Everything was very clean -- it is a "no shoes on" house, which is fine with me, since everything was spotless. It was a little different since when I called I...

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighbourhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
