This must have been one of the worst hostel experiences I had. They first gave us a wrong key which made us get in to the room of some random stranger. We slept on the 3d floor but were still able to hear the DJ in the bar at the groundfloor very clearly all night long. There were no plugs...

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Cambie hostel for one night. We had asked for a room in the sister hostel and a friendly receptionist sent us to Cambie Seymour. We chatted a bit with the friendly girl at the front desk. When we came to our room I was pretty disappointed, we paid 68 Dollar and the room...

First I say if you want 4 star service book a 4 star hotel. I stay in Hostels 'cause they're cheap; Some more so than others and not in a good way. This one is an independent no membership required. Stay can be as long as a month, price is cheap in comparison to the area however several points to...

The room was smelling pee and it was very dirty and hot. There is a bar just under the Hostel and the room are veeeery noisy. It was like being in a disco smeeling pee all the night. Horrible. The music was very loud. The washrooms were very dirty, too, but they didn't smeel pee like the rooms (weird). The...

Shame about this place as its in a good location and the staff are friendly and helpful. It could be easily smartened up a bit - but the rooms are old and scruffy - filthy windows and old greyish sheets and blankets. There are communal kitchen areas which are very scruffy and smelled awful when we were there. The bathrooms...

The Cambie Seymour is a hostel that is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, walkable to almost everything including gastown, Stanley Park, the Harbour attractions, Robson St., etc. It is a good value for the cost (about $50/night for a private), and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The downsides are that my room, anyway, was RIGHT over...

I stayed there for 3 nights in July 2015. Staff were very nice and kindly. I had room towards to main street and there is a construction now. Window could not be closed and every day after 6 AM it was so noisy, that you can´t sleep. Rooms are really small, with old furniture, but it was clean. There is...

The location is fantastic, close to waterfront station which makes travelling from the airport very easy. Canada line straight to waterfront. Staff were friendly when I checked in and loaned me a towel ($5 deposit) Too wasn't fantastic but what do you expect when it's his cheap. Showers were alright and the bathroom was average but can't complain. No air...

In August 2014 I travelled West coast of Canada & USA. My first night of my trip I spent here. Positiv: Located in downtown, friendly staff. But I can confirm others travellers comments like " Place was like a prison cell". I felt absolutely not comfortable when I checked in and saw the 4 or 5 qm room with one...

Good location. Noisy bar and lounge. The corridors and the stairway seemed spooky. Room was so - so (I stayed in a two - bunk dorm room, but had the room to myself). The shower took a long time to warm up (Note: I went there during the winter season). No elevator!!! I had two big trolleys with me, and...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
