A bad experience from start to finish. Non-welcoming staff at the front counter. Management wouldn't accept our coupon, had one of the staff walk into our room unannounced, AC didn't work and room was miserable, had to walk through a maze to get to our room which included two fire doors in an old mostly wore out building, ice machine...

This hotel has a great staff but the location, rooms and infrastructure make it a less than desirable hotel. Elevators out of the 50's, rooms chopped up and located on a busy street with homeless sleeping nearby. The room was decorated as well as it could be but was chopped up and seemed small even though there was ample room...

Small hotel, nothing fancy, but room was quiet and comfortable and hotel staff is very friendly. Very convenient in downtown Vancouver, 20 min walk to Granville Island, 30 min walk to the harbour / Stanley Park entrance. Wifi was good. No free breakfast but they offer 10% discount on breakfast on the restaraunt next door which had really good food.

Not a modern situated hotel. Lobby nicely refurbished. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms rather small, as well as bathroom. Airco is making lot of noise. Surrounding could be better, since lot of outcast sleeping on street and have signs of alcohol or drugs. Location at beginning of granville street, unfortunately is not the best part of Vancouver. With next visit...

Cramped space is putting it mildly. The bathroom was almost as big as the room/sleeping area. My husband and I were crawling over each other to get around in the room. We had 4 pieces of luggage, and that made the space situation worse. The registration area looks like a vintage 70s apartment. Not my style. The elevators were slow....

Despite the negative reviews on this website, we decided to book anyhow as this was the only affordable hotel available on short notice (Fifa world champion finale and Canada day in 1 weekend). And you know, it wasn't all that bad. The room was ok, bit small but clean and comfy. It had an old fashioned and noisy airconditioning but...

The hotel itself was satisfactory, the room was a little small for 3, but perfectly ok. Room and bathroom was clean enough, and front desk service was friendly and helpful. Our room looked out on a side street and adjacent apartment building, so not the best view, but had no issues at all with noise that some reviewers have mentioned....

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
