Our stay was the best! We enjoyed the service, Dennis the manager made our stay so enjoyable with his witty charm. He did prepared breakfast for us which was so delicious. Breakfast was smoked salmon eggs benedict, fruit yogurt, home made fresh baked cinnamon bun with raisins, orange juice and fresh coffee. That's the best breakfast and we did enjoyed...

In Vancouver there is no other place to stay than Barclay House. Dennis and his staff are superb. Welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. A grande old house with tasteful decor and surroundings. Rooms are well appointed and super clean. Breakfast choices change each day and are a highlight of the stay. Well situated in the downtown area and easy to...

Stayed in the ensuite Beach Room for four nights. Generous accommodation with very spacious bathroom and shower. Comfortable furnishings with lovely touches including stationary, housekeeping and cookies left in the room on a daily basis. Excellent level of cleanliness. Only two minor glitches noted: 1) Room Wifi connection was intermittent and slow at best. 2) Small window for breakfast (0800-0930)....

Four of us stayed at the Barclay B&B in July 2016 prior to boarding a cruise ship headed to Alaska. Dennis, his delightful staff and the breakfasts were amazing. The B&B is located in a charming area and each of the rooms are unique. All of us enjoyed our stay and shall keep Barclay in mind should we return to...

I've been to many Bed and breakfast before, I like the warmth of them and the little details you don't get when you stay in a big hotel; but this definitely will not be in my top list. First, the good things: The street in which this B&B is located is beautiful, full of trees. Also, it's in the West...

Miss LIndalau, I personally apologize the discomfort you had, i just find your review has gone overboard. You may find other reviews on this site expressing the comfort and the hospitality they got from us. Trusting this will clarify the matter.

This B&B is just as nice as the web site depicts. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The room was very comfortable. Finally, we were a short walk to several of Vancouver's best attractions. We would definitely stay here again!

The owner-manager of the Barklay House B & B was very nice and accommodating, and the breakfasts were quite nice, but the configuration of the bed in the room was both very strange and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! To get in the bed, I had to climb 2 stairs at the foot of the bed, and then walk on the mattress to...

Perhaps the only odd note about our three-day stay at the Barclay House was that we did not meet our host, Dennis, until the last day. He lives elsewhere and we were greeted by members of his staff, who served the generous breakfasts daily, on our arrival. However, on our departing day, Dennis was more than gracious with his time,...

Never stayed at a BnB before but we stayed here as we could stay one night (post cruise) all hotels would only book for two nights. What a delight, I have been converted. This place was a fantastic location, we walked to town, it is in a beautiful street. We found the host Dennis to be fantastic, he had great...

This B&B is in a prime area with easy access to everything! Quick drive to Stanley Park and walking distance to Roebson St. Dennis is a charming host and breakfast was splendid! Note to Dennis: We accidentally walked off with the keys to our room. We will drop them into the mail as soon as we can. Sorry for the...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
