My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in July. The hosts are pleasant, the house older and somewhat shabby. The location in Kitsilano is near the beach, shopping and restaurants. We found it very noisy at night. The room was adequate - the bed OK, a wardrobe with plenty of hangers and a chest of drawers. The TV...

We were very disappoined in the B and B. We have stayed in many B&B's and this one was the worse by far. The room was very small, lacking towels, dirty, and the wires running all over are a fire waiting to happen. The breakfasts were also disappoining. No options were given, one choice with no protein included and the...

We stayed here two nights, based on a review in Lonely Planet's Vancouver guide. It was a last-minute choice, but worked out well. The site is fairly convenient, especially to things near Kitsilano Beach. (We went to a performance at Bard on the Beach - excellent!) Our 2nd floor room was smallish, but adequate, with an attached private bath. Shoes...

The pictures of the B&B were very misleading. The room we were accomodated in was up some attic stairs - very steep. The room was small and old and the bathroom was below standard. The mirror was a small stand mirror off to one side of the washbasin. Towels were inadequate and small. Had requested room with a desk and...

I cut my toe open the first day of my trip and had to use a rag to wipe the blood off the floor. When I was wiping up my mess I noticed that the floors were filthy. The breakfast was just ok but it was always there. Would have been nice to include breakfast sausage or bacon. When we...

My husband and I stayed in three different B&Bs on our trip, and this was definitely the best. The room was comfortable and pretty with a private bathroom down the hall. Breakfasts were delicious and freshly made -- pancakes with fruit one day and omelettes the next -- and the owner was very helpful, recommending buses and activities. The beach...

Reading the other reviews for Maple Beach (House) B&B on Trip Advisor was helpful because it helped me manage my expectations for the place. Just to update on some of the other reviews. The owners of the B&B live there. The hostess (wife), Patty, is lovely. She’s been very upfront and helpful. The first night I got there, I couldn’t...

I was on a business trip and I choose this BnB for its location and lower off-season rate (compared to others in the Area). It is an old house in the perfect location - the furniture is basic and a bit dated, but the room was clean and the bed very comfy (4 pillows!). Breakfast changed every morning. It was...

We chose the house for its proximity to UBC and we prefer B&Bs. The bed was comfortable, the room & bathroom were tidy but needed a good cleaning & some repairs. I was able to have breakfast one morning and wasn't sure what to do-OJ on the table and french toast was served. I waited for awhile wondering if there...

Stayed here for a week during a conference. Everyone else paying big at the hotels downtown, but a 5 minute bus ride puts you in gorgeous Kits in one of the famous painted wooden houses, right near the beach, running track, sea pool, Granville island markets, restaurants and shops. The B&B is small and friendly, my room was clean and...

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
