The last week of July and first week of August are ideal times to visit BC especially if you enjoy fireworks or gay pride. My partner and I tied the knot in San Diego and decided to celebrate in Vancouver for a few days. We stayed at the English Bay Inn -- a perfect location only blocks from all of...

I stayed here for 2 nights in early August in the garden view room. I had a late arrival which was no problem. After driving for 10 hours, i was more than happy to find complimentary port and choc chip biscuits in the living room! And this was only the beginning of the hospitality i experienced at the English Bay...

Luxurious linens, fresh flowers, elegant decor, soothing Vivaldi, and generous, gourmet breakfasts all invite a feast for the senses at this marvelous gem of an inn. With its being a quiet, gentle stroll to the lushness of Stanley Park and the sparkle of English Bay, quick connections to transit, and a mere beach walk to the delightful aqua-beetle taxis, a...

This house is lovely, on a quiet street, just steps from the beach, Stanley Park and lots of restaurants and shops. We had a rental car, but it stayed parked out back during our entire visit. We stayed in the Private Garden Suite, which was downstairs. It was large, quiet, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It had a separate den/living...

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. The house is lovely, with tasteful antique furnishings. Doug makes a fantastic breakfast - certainly very hearty and he's a great cook. The location is perfect for exploring the bay and park, which is stunning. It was nice to be in a safe residential area in walking distance of great restaurants...

The location and the breakfasts were the two best things about staying here. It was so nice to be within walking distance of the beach and the restaurants on Denman. Even later at night the neighborhood was alive and we felt safe walking around. Doug's breakfasts were decadent! We did not have to eat lunch after those breakfasts. Fresh fruit,...

This is a lovely house in the best location. Centrally located, close to shops, restaurants, public transportation, 2 short blocks from the beach and and a block from Stanley park. Breakfasts are delicious. I have several food allergies, including gluten intolerance, and Doug, the innkeeper, went the extra mile to ensure that I got as wonderful breakfasts as my traveling...

We stayed here in July 2013 for 2 nights. This B&B is in a great location for touring Vancouver. Doug prepared excellent breakfasts and was friendly and helpful during our stay. Would highly recommend this B&B.

This is a real gem for those traveling on a limited budget and want to spend their money DOING stuff instead of on a plush hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, and you're literally steps away from the beach, grocery, entrance to Stanley Park, bike rentals and loads of good (also budget) restaurants. We will definitely stay here again.

This is a wonderful old house one block from Stanley Park and one block from English Bay. It's close to bus routes and they have parking in the back. We have stayed here several times and always had an excellent experience. Breakfasts are outstanding.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
