My husband and I were taking a cruise leaving out of Vancouver and we wanted to explore the beautiful city that it is so we decided to plan to spend a couple of days before the ship left there. Since the flights and cruise were expensive we were looking for a reasonably priced hotel but could not find anything under...

I really enjoyed my stay at the Victorian Hotel. Super comfortable bed, antique side tables, and a nice, clean, pared down decorating scheme.Very relaxing. The rooms aren't huge, but the 15 ft ceilings make them feel expansive. Wood floors and chandeliers feel elegant. Bathrooms are shared but I never had to wait for one. There is no gym but the...

We truly appreciate your comments on comfort Amelia E. It sounds like you got the best out of your stay, except, regrettably, you didn't try our croissants. They're amazing, even if the rest of our continental breakfast is indeed limited.

Picked for competitive pricing and location. We arrived in the rain after a cruise ($8 taxi ride). If it were not raining, we could have walked from the port. There are steep stairs at the entrance, stairs up to next levels in the hotel, but a friendly staff person brought our luggage upstairs. The positives: quaint rooms with antique (ish?)...

Many thanks CitizenKara. "If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story". I couldn't resist the Orson Welles quote and it sounds like you had a happy ending with you stay at the Victorian. Cheers and safe travels.

We had been on holiday for 2 months when we got to Vancouver so we were a bit daunted by having to carry our heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs just to get in the main entrance. However, the staff must have been mind readers and our room was on the first floor, near the reception area. It was...

Thank you for your comments Christine A. The importance of guest reviews cannot be understated when it comes to improving our operations. Notwithstanding your stubbed toe, we are going to re-think the bed size in that room. Perhaps a Queen would be more appropriate over the King. Also I've made sure there is a luggage rack in the closet. So...

This hotel was such a pleasure to stay in...with its Victorian Architecture and furnishings...but modern amentities. We took the Superior King Size Room so we could have our own private bath, and the room was very clean and decorated beautifully with everything we needed. The room was very quiet and peaceful. The parking lot was already full, BUT the hotel...

Great location, easily walked from/to SKYTRAIN (connection to Vancouver airport). The neighborhood has many breakfast/dinning options. The hotel/room were clean and the staff polite and ready to help in any inquiry. There is no elevator (to my knowledge), so heavy luggage can be potentially a problem. The ground floor rooms with a view to the parking lot are a bit...

Great location, easily walked to/from the cruise port, to my business appointment, to dinner, etc. Opted for shared bath which was clean and modern. Reception staff said due to renewing of heating system. Had to go through...

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
