The Hotel Sylvia is a hidden gem in plain view. When you book a hotel, you look for a chain because the chain produces a reliable experience, but at an often inflated price. The Hotel Sylvia doesn't belong to a chain, but in my three...More

Beautiful, old hotel right on English Bay. Interesting that they still use actual keys for their rooms which is kept behind the front desk when leaving the premises. Not a huge deal. The room itself was large and spacious. The bathroom on the other hand...More

In the middle of my stay and already love this place! Came here from Portland on a whim and could not have picked a better place. Friendly staff, spacious rooms, great location and well made cocktails. Give this place a shot!

Thank-you for the recommendation and the 5 star rating. We appreciate your comments and your business. Please return so we can serve you again. Travel safe from Portland.
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along
with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
